Co. Cork

Exit poll shows;

SF = 21.1%

FF = 19.5%

FG = 21%

(FF+FG = 40%)

Looking like a FF + FG + Lab or SocDem coalition.

The majority have spoken.

Democracy is alive and well in Ireland.

The same Tory axis of FG/FF will scratch each other's backs and hold us back for another few years. Repeating the same shite for 100 years odd now.

Looking very like the majority of the voters are quite happy to be "held back" for another term.....democracy at work.

In a Proportional Representation system like we have people can indicate their order of preference and vote across different parties and for independent candidates if they wish.

(As in fab we all are allowed to have preferences).

One possible outcome is a coalition.

Democracy at work.

The real question for me is , the turnout. How can we ever change when the 40% that don't vote , won't vote. Real change will only happen when the unresponsive get responsive, why is it so difficult to get people to vote. Is it the belief that nothing will change. Do we need an Irish Mandela? Like WTF, who keeps voting FF FG , how , why , it's beyond belief. Civil war politics isn't an excuse any more. The party of Charlie and the party of Bertie .... Pocket liners with ties to lots of shady mother and daughter home bullshit. Im embarrassed, and if I don't get involved in politics I am going to emigrate because I refuse to keep living like this. I don't know why these slimey fucks weasel their way in every freaking time. MM, i couldn't punch him hard enough and Harris I want to see sniveling and pissing himself in front of people he let down, minister of misery . Like how are they going to get another go, wankers , fucking assholes? They are not and never will be my Chief.

They keep getting in because they have their loyal fan base. That fan base is a generational thing. I'll vote this way because mommy and daddy did. FF and FG could literally start killing people and this cohort of voters will still vote for them.

If there's no alternative then the status quo will always win out

There's no alternative

Sf can't get elected on their own or as a party with the largest amount of votes

The left are split all over the place and wouldn't last a month as a government

People that own homes and don't have mortgages don't really care about their own kids if the keep voting FF and FG

Don't forget in the worse ever housing crisis the country has ever seen the minister for housing just topped the poll I think.

Democracy more like Idiocracy.

Should there be aptitude tests to vote ?

Or is that too right wing?

Means test the children benefit too.

Drug test social welfare.

Include car tax and insurance in the fuel price.

Promote education, sustainability, build done kind of togetherness, not this same old infighting bullshit that serves no one except the friends of Pascal that gets contracts to build bike sheds, yet the Chinese whispers pass on, "he's doing a great job". A great job of not getting the shit kicked out of him!!!

That’s not really the way it works though, is it. SF can’t explain how they will finance all the housing or healthcare and they also don’t recognise the Supreme Court, which is why FF or FG won’t go into government with them, they are their own worst enemy sometimes

The register could be overstated by between 300,000 to 500,000 so the 40 % not voting might not be a true figure ....it could be a lot lower

I'd endorse this. My sister is a presiding officer and at her polling station there was a significant number of people who had 2 polling cards with different electorate numbers. Meaning they were registered twice on the register. There were also a number of people who got duplicate voting cards but with the same number... they are only counted once thankfully. The problem is that the electoral polling sheest is always wrong and reliant on people registering properly and the civil servants who review and produce the sheets to clear up errors but they never do and their mistakes are not caught and they are not made accountable.

2 wrongs doesn't make a right. And if you feel he has been responsible for people dying and you are passionate about it then you should pursue it through civil and possibly criminal action. My point is no one should rejoice when anyone (not just him) looses their job. As I said I don't agree with the politics of it or indeed as you don't his performance. Im rather looking at the human side of people loosing their jobs such as the Green Party TDs or numerous other candidates cross spectrum. At the end of the day their boss boss, the people have made their judgement.

Are you for real?

It's part of being in politics and being in the public eye. I would have rejoiced in many more of them inept bunch gone but unfortunately it didn't happen. He got a fat salary over years and walks away with a fat pension. Also once you're in a high position like that you won't fall far. They do look after each other and he'll get a cushy job somewhere else and so will his entourage.

You realised the majority of big party TDs that lose their seats end up in cushy roles within the party (advisory roles) or get appointed to the senead (John mcgahon for FG is a recent example as well as Jennifer murnane in carlow being another example for Ff)

"Interesting result of the exit poll showed that nearly 60% of the young voters (18 to 34 year olds) said they preferred McDonald to lead the country.

The support staff losing their jobs, get redundancy. We are at full employment, there are alternative jobs out there.

Support staff choosing to work for political parties know their jobs can go, they get better redundancy rates to balance the risk. If possible they are moved around into other positions. It's all a choice.

The concept no

The outcome yes

If only there was some other form of ruling that could more easily dictate what I wanted.....

Money was between 20 to 30 euros an hour

F

There was no Labour or soc dem candidate here. Wouldn't go further left than that, so i was stuck with FF/FG. No requirement for pot holes to be filled so independents are useless in a general election
