Just watching a TV show about volunteering in the Tidy Town s competition, does anyone get involved in community projects? Seems like a pleasant interest. |

There was a group in limerick that used to go around trying to find "ladies of the night" on the streets, handing out info about sexual health and condoms. It got so popular, they had to turn volunteers away! |

I'm a volunteer for Alone for the last 5 years and visit someone every Monday night
I also help delivering dinners across Dublin from the RDS on Christmas day every year
I mentioned this previously and I got a private message a while later from another fabber saying they had trained for Alone and were starting to visit someone in their community
Best message I ever got on fab |

Ive travelled doing both paid and unpaid charity work, but I find keeping it local, ie. doing something I enjoy that also benefits the community is very satisfying.
For me it's regular but not consistent I don't think I'd enjoy it if I was tied to it all the time. |

I wish
It was Tidy Towns and I helped them get around €6,000 in funding
I wish it was TT Social Volunteer work though 🤣🤣

I do some work with special Olympics and more recently I have gone into schools and delivered Junior Achievement programs in both primary and secondary schools, it’s great.
I also coach GAA to both boys and girls.
Have done a few stints in penny dinners in Votk also, that is a super cause. |

Into a few that have been mentioned already but for one that hasn't: the trade union. Supporting and helping out colleagues with stressful workplace issues and contributing to better conditions for everyone including non-members is pretty rewarding. ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |
