227 messages?

Generally I don't waste my time messaging *new* folks to the site, partially because there are so many fakes/tourists but also presumed they got an avalanche of msgs and you can't stand out.

But saw a profile status today by a lady who said she received 227 msgs in 5 hours and I had no idea *THAT* was the level of insanity taking place!

That is so overwhelming, no wonder so many never come back.

When a friend joined, she received over 700 messages in first two hours. No pics. No bio. Nothing.

It's also used as an ego boost by some in fairness

There's filters to stop unwanted messages

Maybe they like having that many

When we signed up, after under 10 minutes exploring the site we had about 10 one liners including 3 dick pics. We immediately blocked single men and moved on. It's not ideal but we didn't fancy that kind of constant noise in the inbox.

It can be very overwhelming at the start when they haven't figured out the filters and block button. Thankfully I get very few now because of my filters but the first day I set up profile late at night and woke up to 400 messages even with zero pictures and bio.

I’m getting way too much attention, I know, I’ll make a status about it to attract less attention!

It's on par with the "fab for a friend request" or "fab if you'd fuck me" brigade 🙄

As a solo female in the past with no knowledge of filters it was about 130 odd in ten minutes and most of them were too gross to repeat. Just treating me like an available hole, i felt dehumanised. I was really upset and on the phone to my bf who was like I'm so sorry I should have warned you. But he didn't actually know.

Now when I hear of a friend considering joining I'm like let me talk you through it.

A few times when I have seen ladies complain in status updates about stupid or insulting messages, I have suggested that they block men and do their own searching. They respond to say that it's a good idea, but they never do it.

Aye. Seems like a form of trolling tbh, as in how effective can that approach be? Seems like a self-defeating vicious cycle. Spam EVERYONE with hi's/pics/winks as anything you put effort into is going to be lost anyway.

Shrugs. Each to their own, pity though as its ruining the entire collective experience

The status update might be a way of mass communicating the message that her inbox is overloaded, it might not be a stealth boast.

It's always the same brigade that jump to negative conclusions about women.

I get that and I got a friend to join once and she left when she got overwhelmed as I forgot to mention the filters

She came back on and set them fine

I don't understand the mentality of a man sending dick pic and other messages to a blank profile especially when they're also a blank profile

Yes when you are new on here as a woman you do get inundated with messages until you find your filters and tighten them up. Women who don't and are on here awhile and constantly complain about the volume of messages they get well, they could fix that issue if they want but a lot like the attention and the poor you responses they get when their post about it.

I will admit I left within hours when I first joined due to the volume of messages I rejoined a day or so later and found my filters and set them tight. Even within in those few minutes I had messages off men who seem to be waiting to pounce on any new woman joining. Some were sending dick pics and ridiculously stupid in detail messages of what they wanted me to do to them, some were telling me I was absolutely stunning which amazed me as I had no pictures up,and then I had the hi you're new I'm one of the good guys not like all these other assholes messaging you type messages which is crap cos they are lying on wait to jump on any woman joining in the hope of a shag. And as time went on I realised some of these people were well established fabbers too. I don't understand the mentality of looking for new profiles and sending messages within minutes even seconds of them joining. Do they think it will give them a jump start of a chance of meeting. Because usually it doesn't. Or are people who do this actually so desperate that they will be willing to shag just anyone 🤷.

There are some that will never do that.

They love the attention of it all, so much so they'll put it in a status update. They love the dopamine hit!

Attention seeking. Tighten up filters. Some men message anyone in the hope someone will bite.

And I dont go around bragging about how many messages I get. Again, attention seeking. Each to their own and if that gives them a buzz.....

It's completely ridiculous for new girls on here. It's impossible to keep up with it. Messages come in faster than they can be replied to. The status messages are because they are overwhelmed and feel like they need to explain why they aren't responding.
