I went to the local Garda station and few years ago to report someone on here trying to black mail me
Very nice female on the front desk
Showed her the profile and the messages
She told me that they'd have to take the phone off me to create a chain of evidence and they'd need it till the legal case was finished
I walked out again
Can't see any difference being made by a law to anyone on here |

I think it's mostly about giving the Guards power to compel social media companies to cooperate with investigations. Right now they are not legally required to comply with requests for data.
Some people, especially the elderly, are really vulnerable to catfish scams. |
