I love cooking. It's an exceedingly therapeutic thing for me.
I will always grab any opportunity to cook a meal. And generally use it as an opportunity to cook for other people.
Is there an elderly neighbour who might be in the same boat? Is there a single parent in the same boat? Is there someone homeless who you regularly see close to where you live?
When I first lived alone, I dropped a little card into all my neighbours and said that I regularly cook too much and if anyone was interested in a home cooked meal, they would be doing me a favour to accept so I wasn't putting food in the bin. I wound up sharing meals with my neighbours regularly. It was wonderful.

It's a pity that I don't have such a neighbor |

Fair play!
I hate cooking. I'm the cook in my house my process of elimination. I've a very limited pallet so having to try and cook stuff more varied is a nightmare for me.
I usually just do airfry stuff for myself tbh. |

Live on my own here, generally just bang something in the oven to cook, Wouldn't bring in any food for more than 1/2 days, as I work away from home,
Wouldn't be cooking from scratch when I am home, no dicing and slicing stuff here with me.

"Exactly.... Now it hit me... Maybe if I cooked food for the whole month 🤣🤣🤣 . I would sacrifice one day and have a whole month of peace from cooking 🤣🤣🤣"
All we would need then is someone to heat it up for us 😂😂 ahhh I gave in and bought an airfryer during the week, burning 🔥 everything since 🙈😂 |

I think I'd do well with an airfryer tbh
I've used my cooker hob maybe 3 times in over a year 😂 just to fry up some bacon,
Won't surprise you. I don't even own an iron or an ironing board 😂
Typical bloke 😅

I (Mr) both love to cook and fear being alone... I absolutely love this idea and will try and carry that with me forever, just in case. Thank you 🙏🙌🥰 |

I eat out a lot. Way more than I should because I hate cooking. I force myself maybe twice a week to cook something from scratch so my adult children ( what age do they move out btw) get something nutritious and I don't feel like a complete parental failure.
Like some of the posters above, the oven is my friend.
Strangely enough I love to cook breakfast, pan cakes, banana pancakes, protein porridge, poached eggs and bacon, poached fruits, full fry you name it I'll cook it if I'm off and have someone to cook for. But if it's after 12 I'm not interested. |

"Just wondering if anyone else who lives on their own find it hard to motivate to make a dinner? Someday's I'll just have a sandwich 🥪🙈 lol"
Hard to find the motivation granted, but look at the bright side. Cooking brings people to the table.
When I was single on and off, cooking was my go to hobby. All cuisines, finally discovered I had a thing for a good tart.....
Apple tarts.
Brought some to a school bake sale one xmas, met a future girlfriend at it.
Relationship went stale, but my baking was fine! |

"Zero motivation to cook here.
Might start making a few soups/stews etc now that the winter is here but sure I'm sick of the sight of it not to mind the taste of it by the time it's gone."
I love soup and stew especially the 2nd day 😋 I just don't know how to make it lol |

"I love to eat well so try to cook meals that can be frozen. Usual receipe is 4 portions so get bored with same food on the 3rd day so I freeze usually freeze 2 for later and cook something new."
Good idea 👌 |

Found when I got bored of cooking that the answer was to try stuff completely out of my comfort zone. Fucked up a lot of recipes but it helped motivate me to eat good food.
Now it could be Thai one night, Mexican the next and spuds and gravy to follow. Good thing about being adventurous is that a lot of recipes are designed for 3/4 so you label and freeze and the stockpile soon builds up for lazy nights |

If I didn’t cook for the kids so often I would barely eat I think, while making dinners for them I just make enough to have the next day or freeze so then it’s very easy to have a few weeks worth without even knowing that you have done it.
I see food as just fuel and just get it into you. I would actually eat the same thing every day and it wouldn’t bother me, latest phase is Thai red curry, make a big pot of that and you have enough for a week.
You can buy a cooked rotisserie chicken for €6 and there is no end to the different dinners you can make with that, it’s all about taking the easy route sometimes, I could not see myself cooking a chicken in the oven so that is a great option. |

Living on my own 50% of the time. I got my kids the rest of the time. So it's not the same as the op. But I love cooking. However I do make bulk batches for those times when I don't have it in me to do much. Then out come the frozen batches! |
