This is no doubt going to sound a bit random but does anyone have any thoughts on whether there might be a spiritual dimension to group sex? If collective/group prayer or 'intentioning' can be thought of as more effective than the sum of its parts, could the same be said of sexual energy? |

Spirituality means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Is there something supernatural happening? No. But there can definitely be heightened emotion and sensation with certain types of sex. |

Some use sex as a spiritual practice. That energy is then used as a devine connection regardless of how many people you are sharing that energy with.
It's a interesting subject OP. There are spiritual and religious beliefs surrounding the 7 Chakras, the sacral (sex) chakra being one of them. It's a very interesting way to think about balance, our energies, how we use them and how we deplete them, but that's a whole other rabbit hole.
For me I would be extremely uncomfortable with any kind of ceremony, or offering of intentions at a group sex gathering. |

Myself, have done tantra in a group setting which was more focused on healing than the physical act of sex.
So I believe that there can be a healing and spiritual component through sex between two people where there's acceptance, support and openness between both. However with more and more people involved, you're dealing with egos and some participants who may be carrying a lot of unreleased emotional baggage with them which may arise and affect the energetic dynamics of the group.
"Set and setting" is key (i.e a safe environment) and be selective about who you invite into a group if there's a spiritual or energetic component involved. I'd be inclined to "intention" through a meditation group and leave group sex as a separate activity as let's face it the difference between Mass  and an orgy   is a messy mass orgy! |

On Samhain this year, I will find myself at a 'Flame' orgy (sex party). For me, this is something spiritual. Samhain is the time of renewal and rebirth as the cold winter sets in and the garb of summer is released and the trappings of winter become necessary. As we look to return to places of safety, of family and love. As we prepare to come together for warmth and necessity.
The Samhain orgy is the last breath of energy and activity together. It is a chance to see friends and wish them a joyous winter.
I consider group sex to get a very spiritual thing. Even in smaller numbers throughout the year. Group sex is an intimate, wondrous thing.
