"Prefer a book over a kindle
Prefer getting a letter than an email
Does anyone even send postcards from their holidays any more "
Even revenue have stopped sending me letters these days. I can't remember when I last had a proper letter. |

Mostly digital for me but some physical things I miss.
I swear by Google Maps, I do a decent bit of distance driving and seeing in real-time issues with traffic, alternative routes etc can be a godsend.
I was at a gig recently and had a physical ticket for it. I used to keep all my big event tickets as souvenirs from when I was a kid/teens (they're all stored at my parents' house) and I hate them all being digital now. It's the first time in ages I've had a physical ticket for anything. |

When you go to a gig if they have a box office you can ask them to print you a ticket as a keepsake
The amount of people that do it is unreal
You have to have the credit card details that booked the tickets |

Movies, music and newspapers in my opinion are far better and don't take up any space , if you want your music to sound like an lp just put a filter on it. As for books i haven't quite managed to enjoy an ebook but I will listen to audiobooks. I see the benefits but I am aware of many negatives too. Over reliance and the amount of data we share as our interests is quite scary , as for cashless too , that prospect whilst appearing practical could be a form of control with no going back .
We should hold on to the things we want to and enjoy. |

Old school physical. I love flicking through a photo album. Does anyone ever look through pictures on the cloud?? Book and CDs too. Progress is somtimes for the worse. All though perving on fab is a bonus..lol |

I prefer a physical calendar - I've tried a digital one but my brain can't take it in.
I prefer physical newspapers and magazines, and anything that I have to read for training purposes especially if I need to refer to it at a later stage. All our work training is online, none of it ever sticks and if I want to check back on a detail I can never find the relevant help section |

I agree that online has it's benefits, but the digital experience is one-dimensional, you need real hands on stuff as well.
There's more mentioned here than I even remembered missing!
I miss looking through the LP/cd insert though and the art, lyrics or info that all added to the experience.
Letters and postcards brought joy!
And I'm not going cashless, where's the fun in that!! |

I still prefer a lot of physical items but some of the digital things are so practical. I still remember when I used to remove the car stereo and bring it to me, after parking the car, moving tapes or CDs in and out of the car. Now my phone is connected via Bluetooth and I can listen all the music I want. |

Haven't bought a newspaper or magazine in nearly 20 years but I don't read the digital versions either.
Always try to pay cash in local shops and cafes.
I listen to more audio books than I read but if I'm away somewhere I'll have either a physical book or my kindle.
I have thousands of dvds and CDs but because I've never watched a TV show more than once and very very rarely watch a movie I've already seen I've no idea why I still have them. |

On this digital platform the irony isn't lost on me that I prefer books, touch, feel, and everything real.
As a means to an end, digital is a tool, it's cheap and often efficient but lacks the pleasures of the old world.
A prime example is sex! Digital sex just doesn't do it for me! Give me the touch, smelly, real love look, up close and handle-able! |

Mix of both music wise. At home it's vinyl and cassettes (still popular in certain underground music scenes!), bandcamp and spotify when I'm out and about.
I really think digital peaked in the ipod era. Had myself a huge library of mp3s that I controlled instead of relying on streaming platforms with their patchy availability, ads, terrible bitrates and horrible data mining algorithms.
Books have to be physical. The smell of the paper is half the fun! |

I’m very much in the digital column. Rarely have cash on me these days apart from an emergency stash in the van to cover a fill of diesel or if I’m going out then I’d try and remember to bring cash for tips.
Same for books. I’d prefer paper books but the convenience of digital downloads means you can travel with every book ever written in your pocket or luggage. Same goes for reference books, they’re all at the touch of your finger.
I feel that shopping is a double edged sword though. It’s very convenient and everything is available without having to leave the house but for someone that suffers with social anxiety while it’s easier to shop online it’s so much better to be out in the real world around real people. Were a social animal after all and even glistening to that din of conversation from people around you can lift your spirits. |

No paper newspaper: no recharging batteries at weekends
Anything more peaceful than walking the dog to the local shop, reading weekend papers , drinking coffee and staring out of the window at nature ? |

"A book is the best. The untouched papers, smell of paper and physical structure of it.
I miss my passport getting stamped..with the new passport cards.. not a possibility anymore "
I concur with this.
Even though AudioBooks are claiming more and more of my attention, I still love a new book on holiday for eg. Also, they make lovely gifts.
LP's, singles and vinyl all he way too - but Spotify had its uses. The audio is no comparison though.
I would like to build a collection of DVDs as I fear how my access to movies in the past can be controlled by corporate digital providers. Imagine if our movie and TV history and legacy and culture were defined by the likes of Netflix? Nightmare. |

I have a digital newspaper subscription but I always buy an Irish Times on Saturday, nothing beats the paper version of the paper!
Maps were never a problem thanks to my male brain.
Real conversation one-to-one can never be replaced by digital, so many cues to personality and real feelings beyond what a person is choosing to share with you by their words. |
