"Just like the last two years, I'd like to start a thread to talk about depression and anxiety. For many this is the time of year were things get tougher. Rainy days, dark evenings, cold long nights. Many know I'm more of a chirpy nature but yes I've my struggles too and even thought one year that my car would look good wrapped around a tree. But I lifted the phone and dialled the number of the Samaritans, a friend had given me the card somewhat fell out of his wallet by accident so he said. I think he knew I may need it. So everyone, what helps you this time of the year to cope ? Walks ? Reading ? Art ? And for anyone who is not yet at a point where they know how to cope, please speak to a health care professional, a friend or family member or ring one of the many hotlines. You are not alone ! Also, my inbox is always open." What a nice message. I suffered many times and I have to say that sea dipping has been a saviour. It's bloody hard to do in the winter and getting in is not easy but it's the benefits afterwards that I find incredible. Well done on the thread.

Talking to a professional helps, even close friends and then even complete strangers. I was in a dark place a few months ago, but through some counselling, opening up to friends and when just escaping here through the forums and chats have helped me considerably!

"Having my family all over the place, christmas was lonely. Then I met friends at the start of december. Oh it was such a joy. Now it has become anniversary season. Back to doh! Seeing my closest even fir a coffee helps so much. We help each other mentally. However, sometimes professional help is very much needed. And I have the worry about burdening my already burdened friends. Lolly, you biatch, I teared up a little seeing this post. Let it out people, in whatever way you can. Healthily. I have withdrawn a bit from actual fabbing. Few gut punches recently. But I'll shall bounce back. It is within all of us to. *lost my train of thought there, sorry for rambling* " ******* Walked in Glansheskin recently and thought of you. Lots of loud noises in the distance but I survived, as us walkers always do. Keep it real kid. 🦡

"I always wonder though when people say they are there for you are they actually though. I've struggled for last 15/16 years, I'm a lot more aware of my triggers or when a low point is coming. Funny thing is when I say thst I struggle with depression, the usual answer I get is omg really, your always so happy, so positive great for doing things and helping people. And yet I wonder who's there for me " Unfortunately those that you think should be there for you to open up to won’t really be there for you. I opened up to the wrong person that didn’t want to know, made things in my head worse

Happy to say it worked. Lina.
