You can just get a hotel room, it doesn't matter to them how long you stay in the room

Ring around hotels and see if they do do day use but they're not listed on the day use website

So its either an early check in to get the hotel for afternoon fun or late checkout to have morning fun

Booking for a night there ia not much difference. Book a week or 2 in advance is cheaper

2 hotels in portlaoise do this not familiar with athlone
