The end of the PTO shaft is hollow and goes "on" to the PTO.
If you remove the shaft from the PTO you can put it into a transport box, or any other box that is big enough to accommodate it.

Well now a good 25 years ago myself and my mates main mod of transport in rural Co Tyrone was the tractor and let me tell very uncomfortable in some positions but ok for others lol
