How do you like your social - public or private
Jump to: Newest in thread
I’m after been approached by a venue about starting a new night and I’m meeting them tomorrow
Now I know the venue well and it’s got a fantastic set of rooms in the building but my question is if I was to organize a social night out would you rather
A private area just for everyone with your own bar, dj with separate entrance etc OR
Would you prefer just to meet up in the bar itself and have an are there among everyone else
What do you prefer? |

We like both to be honest as they both offer a different experience.
I think for people new to socials and meets the private room would be easier for them.then again some people here for ages love the private ones too. So i guess it's down to personal preference. |

Would depend on how many people were coming for fab reasons and how many would be there without knowing about fab as there could be the possibility of being interested in someone and them having no idea what's going on as such |

"I was thinking the private area might be better its a massive space of like 80/90 but its more just to get an idea on what people might prefer really "
With the talk on a few telegram and kik chats that I am on private seems to be in the majority. |

The debate is endless.
Private is good because everyone is there for the same reason and you can (hopefully) rely on people's discretion etc
BUT if you go and there are people there you'd rather not see you at something then there's no way to claim you were there by accident.
Public is good because its easy pop in and out and claim to have been on a normal night out if spotted etc and check the place or for recogniseable faces before committing to chatting to people.
Last social I did was in public and the fabbers all had wrist bands anyway. Only problem was it was in a very very busy pub so space was limited even with tables booked etc
Ultimately you can't please everyone so please yourself most! |

Is probably prefer a private social BUT they come with issues. Private socials need a dedicated (often hired) venue so there can be costs involved. It's also more difficult to organise and therefore will probably be less frequent. Also with a dedicated venue the organiser will bear more responsibility so will look to be more careful with who is invited. It's more likely a fully public venue can be ok for unverifieds. |

I'm easy as long as there isn't a big banner saying "Swingers over here" and Dildos on the tables holding down the big willy balloons , generally no one else cares or noticeses , especially for a social but then there could be that one person that dresses like their profile pic !!! |

I would agree with this. I’ve never been to a social at a bar before as I was always worried about bumping into somebody I didn’t want to meet there. For that reason I’d almost prefer ease into it by attending a more public event but only if it wasn’t made obvious like the comment above mentioned lol. I like the idea of everyone wearing wrist bands at the venue like another person mentioned above.
Out of interest was that particular event held at a fairly new hotel in Galway a couple of weeks ago ? |

People imagine fab socials to be some kind of an orgy where everyone has a billboard on their forehead saying "I SHAG ANYTHING THAT MOVES". With naked people prancing around, all ready to "perform".
Reality is the complete opposite- a social is just that - social.
People chat, mingle, have a few drinks and a boogie.
Personally we prefer private ones as we know nobody will go around telling randos or staff that someone is on fab (we dont care about ourselves, only concerned about other guests discretion), we control the guest list and don't invite anyone who carries bad juju and most importantly we have control of the door - if needs be, we can easily kick someone out, while in a public social that wouldn't be possible.
It is funny how newbies seem to prefer the public socials where their privacy is wide open to Joe public (nobody is wearing a big billboard sign on their forehead saying "I'M A SWINGER", but there's also no way of controlling who says what to regular punters). Go figure 🤷♀️ |

Wait... I'm making notes for future events. The Loud'n'Proud Fuck'em All Social, now with extra dildos.
There's a market there for that... |
