Lots of things.
Firstly to learn what this community is like - to try to understand whether my wife and I would dip our toes into this world at some point down the line. It’s not on the cards for the foreseeable but never say never. I read the forums quite a bit and have been considering asking specific questions in the near future.
I also get vicarious enjoyment out of witnessing sex lives that are so different from my own. So many people here are impressively talented and adventurous - I’m envious to say the least!

I probably sent a good few messages early on and my response rate was fairly low, I did get some very nice replies along the thanks no thanks line for a variety of reasons but most were ignored. I got a few replies and met some very nice people.
I don't often send messages now maybe 1 a week and I am no longer messaging to meet I'm probably chatting more and if a meet happens down the line then it's a bonus.
I get a fair few messages from men and usually reply and chat even though that's not my thing and I've had some interesting conversations.
