somewhere

Just remembered a programme shown years ago in the 70's on the telly called Tomorrows World

It showed what the future could look like in the 90's and early 2000's

They got lots of stuff spectacularly wrong and some right

Even now something comes out and its meant to be the next big thing but it disappears without a trace

3D printers were meant to be huge and I saw one at an exhibition in Germany once and thought it was rubbish

Anything else

I read an article about the 4th Industrial Revolution. A documented version of the programme which I really enjoyed watched.

3D printers are successful in medicine and building houses for example.

Driverless cars are available. But corporate US halting progress I believe as ‘gas’ aka fuel is a huge money earner.

Love reading about future progress in any guise.

Trick question. The Cable Guy was never a popular film 😂

I remember watching an episode of Tomorrow's World or Beyond 2000 back in the eighties and they had a camera mounted on top of a TV and were talking about how one day you'll be able to video call anyone in the world.

And where's my hoverboard?

Back in the seventies I remember thinking that we'd have people living on the moon by now, or maybe somewhere further afield that we'd find that would be more suitable. We've kinda gone backwards on that though.

The flying cars are obviously never happening either.

How? was another interesting programme from the eighties.

People used to say that the writers of Star Trek were amazing in the way they predicted back in the 60s so much of the technology we have today such as video screens and communicators.

That theory is sort of back to front as most engineers and designers claim to have gotten their original ideas from watching Star Trek and then setting out to create that technology.

The Jetsons is another show that was before it's time in showing virtual doctors and zoom calls back in the 1960s.

May not be living on the moon. But we've discovered millions of galaxies and billions of other planets.

Most of which make the sun look tiny!

We've seen galaxies beig created and black holes develop. Makes walking on the moon look like child's play.

Funny you mentioned 3D printers. Ireland just started making our first 3D printed houses in Dundalk a few weeks ago here!

Meat without feet and insect proteins, 🤮, the hugely processed fake meat always confused me , how is it better to eat that shite, than some responsibly raised beef!?

Don't get me started on almond milk ? I didn't know almonds had nipples!!!

But you can get milk from anything that has nipples, I've seen potato milk too, never seen a nipple on one of those either 😘

Oh yes, you're perfectly correct but I don't think anyone is thinking about us living on another planet in the short or medium term these days. We were thinking of that in the seventies.

JFK sold that dream to make sure the Russians didn't get another win after Sputnik.

I sat my kids down a few years to watch live when SpaceX landed rockets for the first time and explained that commercial space travel will probably happen in their lifetime.

And that he sent his car to Mars in a spaceship.

Was it the European Space Agency or NASA that had a plan to send scientists to Mars to "live" for a while and send back reports. I was fascinated by that, and it's only a few years ago, possibly just before the pandemic? There was even an Irish man in line to go. They postponed it and I think eventually abandoned it.

somewhere

When I started work we had a telex machine and typewriters

Then we got a fax machine ....got rid of the telex machine

Then we got an IBM computer ....green screen and everything starting with C

Then Windows came out with its little filling cabinets and folders

Indigo was the free internet ...Alta Vista the search engine and Netscape Navigator Internet browser of choice

Then the big One

Windows 95 💾 📀

We got rid of the fax machine

The internet changed everything

You didn't have to swap porn mags with your mates anymore and the first virus was probably attached to a file called

Anna Kournikova nude photos

Those of a certain age probably remember the dial up tone of your modem

A lot of things got better with technology, some things didn't

The biggest change in my opinion

The smartphone and its evolving technology

Just as you think they can't get any better they bring out new technology such as A.I

Artificial Intelligence

Will it be another game changer ....who knows...will it lead to Skynet....who knows

That's todays TED talk finished

..

I actually think with all the modern technology our generation got over 20yrs or more is a plus

Just stop and think your first Mob was just over 20yrs ago, 4star was the norm and then the infamous dial up I faintly remember it in the house..

But we've gone past the point of no return with Ai

Some for the good yes but it's gonna tell a bad tail in futures to come..

I could be wrong tho as I'm seldom right.

Sorry Bog if I've strayed of the tram lines.
