"On Facebook?
On the fab forums "
Had a browse of it there. Seems totally UK-centric. The 2 Ireland thread got no replies.
Interesting tidbit on one thread that pineapples and pink flamingos bottle openers are subtle signs used on campsites to let others know that you swing |

"Campers are crazy money. Would love to convert a van myself but just wouldn't have the free time.
We are looking at caravans though, some really nice ones for little money compared to campers. "
Winter is a good time to pick them up for less. Much cheaper on the continent and being LHD doesn’t really matter in them. You’ll never be going too fast.
The flip side of the expense of them is that they hold their value well. They don’t depreciate as quickly as cars do. |

Old school techniques - I have most of the Ordnance Survey maps of the country.
I am on the road a lot so if I don't know an area, I pull out the map and research beaches, lakes rivers etc. I can then zoom in on Google maps for a closer look.
I open water swim daily so as a result I have discovered literally hundreds of amazing places that I would have driven past otherwise.
I have a 'stealth camper' which is great for a good night's sleep and early morning swim.
Ireland has so many amazing places to visit - for me the more remote the better.
Waterways Ireland have great facilities along the river Shannon and it's lakes.
Clean toilets and hot showers accessible with their card which you can buy in most local shops. Great value for money.
Just hit the road and enjoy. |

Was an enthusiastic camper up to about 10yrs ago. Wife wanted to try “see how the other half lived” !
So, reluctantly, I booked 4 star all inclusive for 2 weeks. I literally created a spreadsheet for day trips & activities for all (incl 2 kids).
Was a great trip.
Everyone had a blast.
Never been camping since.
She refuses to go now.
Miss it a lot.
Woe is me

"We're campervaners , it's not finished, but we're away every weekend and some midweek breaks as well "
Yes, once you start out on the road, home starts to become a bit boring.
Nothing nicer than waking up at a new location and surroundings.
