Netflix - what's good to watch!!
Jump to: Newest in thread
I'm hoping you good people will make some good suggestions of films or series to watch!!
I don't want long series, just the short ones, no more than one series!!
I like a good film - thrillers, horror, autobiography, drama, romance, adult films where there's a good story behind it if you get me!!
I loved the Umbrella Academy but obviously I've seen it!! I'm ok with some sci fi, just not Star Wars as much!! I've seen practically all dog films lol!! Some war films are good!!
Please suggest away and thanks!!

"Just finished Eric , it’s good . Benedict cumberbach is in it . Short series "
I was looking at that this morning, decided to leave it for now but will go back to it!! I've just started watching 'The Black Phone' - it's a horror film! It doesn't look like a film that would scare me but anyway I'll see how it goes!! |

The deepest breath is a good documentary with an Irish connection.
Moneyball is a good movie but non sports fans might have bypassed it.
I Came By was pretty good.
Law abiding citizen is an old one but I only watched it recently and it was good |

Literally just finished it, was better than part 1. It was lovely to see Agatha talk to Charlotte. Still my fav series, must watch it whenever I feel like crying.

Gentleman, the film? Can't remember if I've seen that or not!!
Is a series, not too long. It has a bit of comedy but is suspense.
Lina "
I've seen the series but I think there's a film but haven't seen that yet!! |

Into the deep.......film about a real life murder of a journalist on a submarine in Copenhagen around 2015, the guy how murdered her was being followed by a documentary crew when he was planning it.
The guy was one seriously f#cked up individual |

"Secret diary of a call girl, with Billie piper, it's great!
"
And oldy, but a goody.
I really enjoyed the collection of Roald Dahl stort stories, again with Benedict Cummberdatch and a litany of other celebrated actors, Sir Ben Kingsley and Ralf Fiennes to name but a few.
I like that quirky, stage production, The Grand Budapest hotel vibe kinda stuff |

I would second the Roald Dahl shorts.
Rose, is it only Netflix you want recommendations on. Do you have other streaming services or a dodgy box you would also like suggestions?
Anyway, 1 last suggestion. The Deepest Breath, just under two hour documentary about a free diving couple. I would highly recommend it.

Hi Rosie,
I must apologise first.
I sometimes get fixated on topics and so I have a small list below. (My daughter thinks I am also on the spectrum, but undiagnosed) All are on Netflix. Some have been mentioned before but I have summarised them and indicated their length and given a brief description. So Here goes.
Comedy/Drama TV series
Beef: 1 series 10 episodes (A road rage incident escalates between two people)
The Wonderful story of Henry Sugar: (One of the Roald Dahl shorts, there are three more. Starring Ben Kingsley, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ralph Fiennes. All good)
Fisk: 2 series 6 episodes each, half an hour each episode: Australian Comedy where a recently divorced lawyer starts again as a probate lawyer and the characters she interacts with in the course of her job.
The Sandman: Fantasy series about the Lord of Dreams. 1 series 11 episodes
Dead Boy Detectives: 1 series 8 episodes A spin off of the Sandman. 2 Ghosts embark on detective cases involving the supernatural
Recommended by others but I have not seen them yet.
The Alienist looks good , 2 series 18 Episodes in total
Supacell: A south Londoner along with others discovers he has superpowers, 1 series 6 episodes
Eric: A puppeteer looking for his lost son 1 series 6 episodes (Benedict Cumberbatch stars)
Films:
The Martian (Matt Damon is marooned in Mars)
The Imitation Game (Benedict Cumberbatch plays Alan Turing, the genius mathematician who will cracking the Nazi Enigma code also invented the computer)
LadyBird (Saoirse Ronan plays a Californian teenager who dreams of escaping to college while dealing with family, life and love)
Memento (Guy Pearce plays a man who tries to solve his wife's murder, but he has short term memory loss. One of Christopher Nolan's early films)
Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts stars as a legal secretary who finds a conspiracy to cover up drinking water contamination by a chemical company, based on a true story)
Arrival: A sci-fi film starring Amy Adams who is learning to communicate with aliens who have appeared in 12 locations on Earth.
Anime/Cartoon:
Scavengers Reign (I have mentioned this before, 12 episodes 25 mins each. Survivors of a spaceship accident try to fend for themselves on a alien planet with a unique and intertwined ecology)
Spirited Away (A Studio Ghibli film, a girl wanders into a magical world and tries to rescue her parents who have turned into pigs)
Love Death & Robots (Anthology series, there are 35 episodes in total but all are quite short. I suppose it's like an animation version of Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone)
Again Apologies, this is longer than my profile

"I had a go at the new Beverly Hills cop. I gave up after 20 min.
It's an incompetently made good movie
I them watched under Paris. Pretty good-bad movie. M
It is a competently made bad movie"
I hate when they make another film from a film going back 20, 30 and 40 years like Top Gun, it just doesn't work!!
I started watching Under Paris but I got distracted!! |

I thought maverick was one of the few legacy sequels that was pretty good. Blade runner 2049, and mad Max Fury road too. So I think it can work.
But Beverly Hills cop sure didn't!
Maybe we'll have to organise fab movie night and we can all vote |
