bacon and cabbage

hi

i have just returned from ireland visiting relative

my aunty made the most delicious meal of bacon ribs spuds cabbage carrots and turnip

she just seemed to boil it in water no stock or anything more added

ive tried to make it here same method and its just not as tasty ? any tips guys ??

All I know about it is you're supposed to boil it for a while and then drain off the water and boil it again to get most of the salt out of it. Don't know for how long.

The first thing you do is rinse the bacon under a cold tap and cut the ribs into 2/3 bone pieces, bring to the boil and throw out the water. Then start again and bring to the boil and simmer for about 2hrs if it’s a decent amount of ribs. Then throw in your turnip and or cabbage near the end to boil in the bacon water.
