Is it legal? Can we just set up camp anywhere?

Id guess it depends on who owns the land you're camping on, and how open they are to it.

Technically it's illegal but depending on where you go no-one should say anything to you

40 odd camper vans last night on a local pier, everyone sat out around a fire. That's a fully working fishing port.

Great place for wild camping is the Wicklow Way you can jump on the trail anywhere and camp discretely along the route or stay in the huts which have fire pits. I went wild camping there last year and will be going camping in the middle and north west week of 20th - any recommendations greatly received.

Within reason yes you can. Although this doesn't stop the complainers. Just use a bit of "uncommon" common sense.

There is a wild camping face..book Ireland page where people discuss things.

Depends where you want to camp. National parks and local woods tend to allow it provided you follow some basic rules that you'll find online.

Not sure how it is with private property. Obviously, respect no trespassing signs.

I don't think this is allowed on private land without the landowners permission.

Look up outsider.ie

It's all things outdoors!

It has a section on wildcamping and maps or locations. My fella is big into this, for his fishing, helps too when I borrow his home for my meets.

That's where common sense comes in ...

Reckon you have to ask the landowner first - they could be about to cut a field for silage or have stock about . Is it true about Coillte land being ok to camp?

Not overnight on Glasilaun Beach in Connemara it's not. There are signs saying so.

Didn't stop me though
