The 'wild' camping all along the grassy verges opposite the hotels and site has now been blocked off. If you were planning on camping or parking along the road as in previous years it is all marked off as no parking or camping now. You'll need to park down a side road or there are still a few spaces showing availabile behind the hotel. Not sure if any campsites have spaces either.
It was always great craic along the verge in years gone by. |

The place is dead, no buzz like previous years. Barmaid said yesterday was worse.... everyone staying in town as it's cheaper but that's were their accomodation mostly is as the verges, round abouts have all now been closed off from camping. Counting 11 people in the drinks bar opposite the stage...not a queue in sight. |

"Unfortunate that they've stopped the camping, no justification for it considering that it's always attracted a decent crowd with a good buzz around the place. "
Yeah no justification at all after all these years of allowing it with no issues I'm aware of.
Think it was more a money making scheme for the council. They provided a shuttle bus into town for €2. Potentially a lot of revenue over the long weekend if they got it right.
Bar tenders said many were going into town or staying longer in town for drinks as they were a lot cheaper and obviously nearer their accomodation.
Great atmosphere late afternoons and evenings and some great bands. No fights like last year from the d*unken lads of Bermuda short Costa de Sol T-shirt brigade.
Great weather and some great fun had too. |
