Once again we have had a guy find my wife’s social media accounts and message with “ how’s fab “ , we have hidden most pics on here or posted ones that give very little away about who we are ,
This is about the 10th time this has happened in the last year , we’d love to know how they are making the connection between the two …. And even then why in the blue fu*k would you message and try to add someone outside of fab !!! |

Check your photos online that they are not coming up on a Google search.
If not, then you are left with two likely scenarios.
1. It's someone you have met at an event and recognise the tattoo etc, or someone you just know (hopefully not)
2. Because you were recognised previously they can match old photos to the new photos and keep a record etc.
That's just my best guess.
Good luck sorting it out. You shouldn't have to. |

I think these guys think if they send a super creepy message you're obliged to ride them. People have no idea about discretion or valuing someone's privacy. I've had two guys message me here to say they recognised me. One guy followed me around Supervalu and messaged me about it. |

I don't put my exact date of birth into Fab, just in case someone has their suspicions. Its very easy to check your bday on Facebook, and then wait to see if it updates on your profile on that date |

Although I was conscious of certain jewellery in pics that I'd wear to work, or posting about days off in case someone put 2 and 2 together. "
I was recognised in Supervalu because of distinct pair of leggings I had posted months previous. So I'm lot more cautious now about any potential give aways in my pictures |

Totally get what your saying. Probably just our outlook in it tho that we wouldnt mind of people found out... our friends and family actually wouldnt really bat an eye although this definitely isnt a solution just putting it out there. Can Gaurds be called in this instance considering fab is a public entity? |

Anyway gossips will gossip! It's not really a criminal offence to be a swinger, or to say that someone is I guess. |

Social media cross references and links accounts, happened to me and I can’t figure out how. Had different everything, username, email, DOB, etc.

Do you have any fab friends as friends on social media? If it’s mutual anywhere along the line, they could be suggested as friends to people and they’re putting 2 and 2 together.
But, you’re right, people need to realise that it’s not ok to message even if you cop who the person is. Mind your own business and fuck off. |

One of the main reasons I haven't been in a fab related chat group for almost 4 years is down the the detail being shared about people not in the various groups including their social media.
Complete strangers have come up to me at socials claiming to recognise me from my face pic in the chatgroup and knowing my first name.
The fact I wasn't in those groups and wouldn't have shared a facepic or given my name even if I had been just shows how free and loose some people are with others personal info.
Over the years I've read threads on here from people giving out about other fabbers trying to out them to their friends and family and yet those same people have a history of doing exactly the same in private. |

I wanted to say I can't believe this stuff happens but the logic of some guys is insane.
I literally cannot think of why you would do something as stupid and creepy as that.
It's hard to keep people that are desperate from finding others, my suggestion is use either burner or specific emails that aren't attached to your other emails or phone number ect.
There's quite a lot you can try to do but these creeps already prove they are desperate |

It shouldn't have to be said but I have friends both male and female who left fab and other sites due to relentless stalking issues and having to delete their profiles and create new ones but it continued regardless.
I have had issues with someone with no connection to fab or any other site stalking me on social media during covid lockdown.
Every one of those doing the stalking in all those cases were women. |

Yeah it started out as "do you think you could beat a bear in a 1 vs 1?", a lot of men said yes and women were asked whether they'd be followed by a man or a bear in a forest. |

Yea there was some survey done asking women would they rather be stuck alone in the woods with a random bear or a random man and the majority said bear. It’s been talked a lot about on social media, radio etc over the past couple of weeks. |

It's easy to say when you've never even been close to a bear! But I get the point and it's actually just very fucking sad for society that this is the fear level among women
But yeah in the early days of my fab account I had men message me about earrings I was wearing and realised some people are paying veeeery close attention to details.

I'd also say be very cautious giving out your face pic. With that new facial recognition software website pimeyes.com you can upload face pictures. So it would be easy to figure out my name because of random online articles from my real life being at parents association event was one with my full name available. |

"Do you have any fab friends as friends on social media? If it’s mutual anywhere along the line, they could be suggested as friends to people and they’re putting 2 and 2 together.
But, you’re right, people need to realise that it’s not ok to message even if you cop who the person is. Mind your own business and fuck off.
Ya this had happened to me on Facebook and some people I've met on fab have come up as friend suggestions which obvs I've never friend requested or even let on they came up
I've had friend suggestions on FB from people I've had social meets with. I think this might relate to using whatsapp
It 100% does! Although you haven't come me up?! Lol.
Funny that it only happened one way I've stopped trying to figure out most of this interwebs stuff, too old to learn new tricks
...and you never sent me a friend request! Lol!!
Now there's a thread
"
...a very boring one! |

I was at a social on Saturday and a lady I only just met that afternoon insisted I give her my proper name.....told her she could call me Tox. Was told SHE didn't want to call me that because she had told me her proper name ( her choice). She got very sarcastic because I refused.....told her Ireland is too small and only a handful of people on here know my real name which suits me. People give out too much personal information without realising it in my opinion... |

"I think these guys think if they send a super creepy message you're obliged to ride them. People have no idea about discretion or valuing someone's privacy. I've had two guys message me here to say they recognised me. One guy followed me around Supervalu and messaged me about it.
That's suck .. I'm sorry
that happened... Gobshites "

I have had one and blocked him wrote to me and I told him in no uncertain terms was he to contact anywhere.
Just mentioned what could happen if certain friends knew what he was doing to me. Put a stop to it.
Or when another was d*unk and undressing me with his while I was with friends. Met him on his lunch break and knew his colleague and totally ignored him. Then when he was gone texted and now you know how I felt when you done it to me. Never any trouble again |

Just a shot in the dark, but when we subscribe to Fab their rules and regs we agree to. These give consent to the use of our data. We are not entirely sure who has access to the data or what algorithms are allow to use it.
Im not on facebook much, but I have noticed friemd suggestions come up for people I habe little or no connectivity to. Which I do find suspicious... but maybe Im a suspicious type. It might explain how a distinctive tattoo, pair or leggings or jewellery can be spotted if facebook has data access.
Thoughts? |

That's not nice at all OP, silly games people play
I was advised to take my phone number of Facebook when I joined fab and yes I get suggestions on Facebook to add friends of people I know as I'm friendly with a few already but would never add unless I had permission |

It's not just on here.
I have worked with a few intercounty ladies and mens teams over the years and some of them go through this on a weekly basis. Even being followed home from training. Its a social problem not just a fab problem.
I think it's because social media makes everyone so accessible they can't see what they are doing is not OK. |

"Oh wow! Do people do that?
Although I was conscious of certain jewellery in pics that I'd wear to work, or posting about days off in case someone put 2 and 2 together.
I was told last month that my ankle bracelets is easy to recognise, and that he walks around limerick looking for it... creepy!
Lina.
Absolute creep!
And men wonder why women would rather be alone with a bear in the woods rather than a man
That's so weird Laura was just talking yesterday about rather being alone with a bear than a random man, is this a social media thing?
Yea there was some survey done asking women would they rather be stuck alone in the woods with a random bear or a random man and the majority said bear. It’s been talked a lot about on social media, radio etc over the past couple of weeks. "
All this talk about a bear in the forrest makes me want a twix for some reason.
