Heard the locals ain't happy at all with the date change as it coincides with harvest time & even tho the festival itself is only a few days it disrupts the area for a lot longer |

"I'll keep the legs crossed that it goes ahead. "
It's gas the amount of Fabbers who attended last year. My inbox was blowing up with horny campers looking for me to pitch their tents |

RTE article released earlier today ..
"Electric Picinic organisers have said this year's 20th anniversary event is "100%" going ahead and that an announcement about the line-up will be made in "a few weeks".
It follows speculation about why acts for the sold-out weekend, due to take place over the earlier dates of 16 and 18 August, have yet to be revealed.
Dates and details of acts for Electric Picnic have been announced between 2 and 29 March in previous years.
Head of Festival Republic Melvin Benn has previously said that he is awaiting confirmation of a major act for the event before a full announcement is made.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, The Electric Picnic Residents Committee said they have met with representatives of Festival Republic three times so far about this year’s event.
"Plans are well advanced for the festival and we are waiting on their final plan before communicating it to the community, we will keep you updated," the statement continued"

Its not going to be cancelled just delaying the announcement
All the companies that work there and at all the gigs are training staff but there's so many gigs on during that month that the plans for every gig are delayed

My kids are both in uni so have pointed out that's a large target audience may be abroad due to the earlier dates.. My two will b in Thailand and Greece respectively with all their friends who would normally attend |

I think it will go ahead regardless, but I think the biggest problem is finding 3 big acts to headline it plus support acts etc. A lot of the artists that you would like to see are already tied into other festivals, doing their own tours or played here in the last 12 months. I think changing the date screwed them over
Regardless we will be there |

"Rumoured ac dc to headline Sunday cause they’re playing Dublin that weekend
Fingers crossed "
They don't play two consecutive nights any more, like many of the acts of their vintage. Couldn't blame them either. |

I went to the very first one I think the capacity was 10,000 that year no camping back then. So we rang the local Post office to see did they know any farmer's renting fields. They didn't but au
S
sure they had a fine big lawn themselves and we were more than welcome to camp on it. I was showing my kids the pictures last night, rocking the mini skirts and the desert boots which were all the rage! The craic that year was unreal I've had some great Eps but that first one was special. |

I was at that one too. That's actually the only EP I've been too. I remember John McEnroe was up the very front of the crowd giving it socks when Groove Armada was on.

I know I'm an old man, but Sophie Ellis bextor was so good when we saw her last summer. She's completely charming. One not to miss. Raye, Kylie, Faithless, Peggy Gou all worth a look. It's missing some hard hitters though I think. |

"Ah sorry but for me that is not Faitless. Same as prodigy not the same without Keith "
I have a friend who saw the prodigy recently and he said they did a really great tribute to Keith and put on a brilliant show. I'm sure there will be a fitting Maxi tribute. Faithless have new music on the way. I'll be giving them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise anyway. |

Been at the Dublin gig last year and it was OK. Seen then when Keith was alive and there is no comparison |

Some bands can survive the death of a iconic member some cannot but it’s almost always comes down to you wanting to hear the music live and the buzz you get from it
Anyway happy enough with the lineup and EP is about all the other stuff going on and especially finding new music.. cannot wait |

Festivals are definitely struggling these days. Looking back, my first festival was in 94. The following played...
Rage Against the Machine
Paul Weller
Elvis Costello
Peter Gabriel
Johnny Cash
Oasis
Radiohead
Nick Cave
James
Orbital
Bjork
The Beastie Boys
Blur
Pulp

Didn't get tickets this year but the line up is okay from what I've seen. Although I would say they are definitely catering to the under 21s with a lot of the big acts. When I went 6 years ago there was Kendrick Lamar, The Coronas, Sheik and a not as well known Dermot Kennedy |

Feile 1994 was my first festival very similar to that lineup probably the best lineup I've ever being to. I'll still enjoy EP but the days of lineup like these are gone! |
