Why are sex and porn such a taboo subject. Sex after all is apart of every day life if it wasn't for sex there wouldn't be any or be it very little life on earth so why is it that it is so taboo in almost every society . Why is society so against the naked human body. And why must we hide our sexual desires and needs for fear of being judged |

Was listening to newstalk a few weeks ago and they had a segment on the breakfast show about how sex scenes in movies are too commonplace and are unnecessary. Was literally like stepping back in time. |

It’s the grip the RC church has on the country , don’t do this that or the other , while they have committed the most heinous atrocities behind closed doors , as someone said above “ holy Ireland “ it’s all frowned upon |

Who would you want to show your sexual desires to if you are afraid of being judged? Your parents, colleagues, neighbours, friends?!?
There's kind of a time and a place for that, something that's private.
My sexual desires are for me to share with my other half, not the rest of the world . That doesn't mean I can't have an open, honest conversation about all things related to sex in an age appropriate manner if the subject comes up with said family, friends, neighbours and/or colleagues.
If they're uncomfortable, that's their problem. Either terminate the conversation for their benefit and move on or watch them squirm (and risk potential repercussions) |

I don't agree that having that opinion has to anything to do with thinking it's taboo or harking back to the old days.
There are lots of movies and TV shows now that have completely gratuitous sex scenes just for the sake of it because they are trying to be edgy and failing or following the old trope that sex sells.
I'm as open minded as anyone but I'll skip through many sex scenes because they are shit, add nothing to the story or just ruin the flow of the movie.
How many threads have there been about people acting out fantasies in public?
Is it really taboo if other people don't agree they should force their sex lives or fantasies on unsuspecting bystanders without a thought for consent?
There are plenty on fab who mock those of us who don't show facepics and say they don't give a fuck who knows they are on here proving that they don't really understand the principle of discretion. |

Not sure you can categorise all if this on the church. Yes henious crimes were committed and justice deserved for those who sought it.
Much more to this. It exists in many parts of the world and where other faiths are prevalent too. Societal 'norms' come into this too. Just typical of folk to throw the name of the church into it. Seems to be commonplace with little substance to back it up |
