Happy St.Bridget's Day to all.
As one of the more mature (older) people here, it got me thinking about the traditions around this day from my childhood.
The youngest in the house replaced the old Bridget' Cross with a new one.
Any towels or sheets would be hung outside on the night of 31st Jan to get Bridget's kiss. These would be used in childbirth or illness.
The Biddy, google Kilgobnet Biddy, would call around the houses and usually had a parade of the nearest town on 2nd.
Do you have any memory such occasions or was it confined the certain parts of the country. |

"We made crosses at school, that was it.
Did you throw them away or bring them home
Brought them home where my mother stuck them behind the Sacred Heart picture "
So where was the child of Prague? |

Over in the West we used to go around the neighbourhood collecting money for singing and dancing. It was called the Brid òg. Adults did it at night usually for a local charity. |
