Why are young peeps having less sex?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Or are they??
Are they riding like rabbits or are they sitting around getting instant gratification from their phones and not needing the bother of actually interacting with real life people?
Apparently teenagers these days are having less sex than their parents did and grandparents did, at the same age (18ish). Is it true? |

I would say more of them still at home and not a lot of them driving due to costs for insurance etc. and we aren’t out socialising as much either so the need for babysitters is less lol, who as a young babysitter snuck in a boyfriend for a quickie when kids went to bed. |

Younger people today probably have more sexual partners than their parents and grandparents did at their age, but it’s just sex less often. Generations before seemed to have less partners but have much more consistent sex with them, more one night stands etc for todays age. People have less time for hobbies etc also and have their lives dominated by work. More work less play. Then there’s the issue of living at home or having roommates etc. |

1. Everything is hyper sexualized so the curiosity isn't there.
2. Phones and social media does take up a lot of people's time.
3. Young people are under much more stress than the previous generation could ever even imagine to be under.
4. Young ones learn sex from porn which makes it quite underwhelming in real life.
5. Partners are more "disposable" - 20 years ago people couldn't pick up a new ride on tinder every day of the week.
Just a few reasons among I'm sure many many more |

I really am.wondering was anyone surveying our grandparents in Catholic Ireland about their sex lives???
I'd honestly say main thing is that people are settling down way later, and less open to relationships.
Overall that actually results in less sex.
I think they feel an expectation to be casual, "don't catch feelings" and not look for anything serious. But in reality that's kind of exhausting and a lot of people can't be bothered.
I don't know a single woman who actually likes using dating apps. Most are constantly deleting them every few months. |

Agree with Hungry Cat on all points but specifically on the porn one. Women are less sexually satisfied, especially with random hookups because of the influence of porn.
I have certainly noticed the change in male sexual behaviour from the time before and after my 20 years of monogamy with hubby. Mrs. |

"Anecdotal evidence appears to support the less riding theory.....
Hotels need to start charging by the hour. "
I was explaining to someone recently about the Love Hotel culture in Japan. They are basically themed hotel rooms that you can rent by the hour for this reason (and for affairs). There are many documentaries on them from westerner media who are fascinated by them but they are just a normal part of life over there. |

I deleted dating apps long ago!! Total rubbish… more hookups than dating. And it’s exhausting as always land up with syco’s. I would want someone who is serious… Want swinging here is place for that |

I remember seeing a study from the 1950s regarding less sex hormones in the system due to mass production of forced food, depleted soils, environmental toxins such as plastics, chemical estogen from packaging materials, vapours from vocs.
Also be light radiation from mobile phones etc, a sense of being available 24/7, higher stress levels, less value for money, more competition, and the kost important scientific bit - less ladies on fab than males lol |

I would probably say it's related to the cost of living, very awkward to meet someone and bring them home, only to realize your sharing the gaff with 5 people and got the squeakiest bed in the place haha or worst bring them back to the home house |

I'd say young people aren't having as much sex as their Parents or Grandparents did because of the internet, free access to porn 24/7, sexting, live streaming & online gaming too....defo all factors.... |

When there is a will there is a way haha, the lockdown may of also I guess "stunted" younger people informative years of when they explore these kinda things, but I am sure there's a multitude of other reasons |

I've no idea if it's true that young people are having less sex. All the articles seem a bit pseudosciencey and sensationalist.
I do wonder at everyone's assumptions that it's all perceived negative effects that might have caused it though like money, screens etc.
I also wonder if it has anything to do with young people being quite a lot more educated about sex from a much younger age now.
By the time any kid gets to third year now they have a had a good few classes about consent, sti's and contraception.
Just some thoughts. I don't really have an informed opinion on it one way or the other. |
