So I am looking to go to my first social and I a am crazy busy December, will take it easy in January and get out to the real world again in February.

There are events but you need to be meet verified to attend.
Keep an eye on the Irish Forum for DV8 unverified socials. They might just give a weeks notice for them.
I think Weare_ENVY are having a social for newbies in January and they advertise on the Forum as well.
