Drove up and down to Waterford today while day dreaming of past holidays
One came back to me
Me a 17 yr old in a caravan on my own in Castlegregory for 2 weeks in 1982
The caravan was the size of the one from father Ted ...just one room ...no toilet and the bed put together every night from turning the built in table ....but it was a passion wagon to me
Why the memory today....because the cd I played everyday was on the radio today and it was called The Getaway
Ladies and gentlemen of fab I give you ....
Chris De Burgh....the man with the most romantic songs of the early 80's and I feckin loved him
Listen to the beauty of this song called Liberty

Glenn Frey - you belong to the city, smugglers blues off Miami vice.
Michael mcdonald - I keep forgetting
The 80s was something special and groundbreaking for tv and radio.

First time I heard it, a work colleague funeral and as his coffin was being carried out of church they played Goo Goo Dolls - Iris.
Heartbreaking and I will always love that song since.
Personally, I will have Pearl Jam and AC/DC, possibly The Frames also played at my funeral but, narrowing down to one song, this will be an absolute requirement at my funeral. Rival Sons - Jordan.
Dare you to listen and not shed a tear for a recently passed love one, or a loved friend from the past -

In my youth
Angie by the Rolling Stones
Without You by Nilsson
He ain’t heavy he’s my brother - The Hollies crush on head boy who did a reading to this song in assembly. Bought the album as a result of that.
Mixed Boarding school disco evenings desperately wanting a particular boy to ask you to dance. Angst but memorable times
Now new music
The Paper Kites - I don’t want to go that way
Love Chris de Burgh. Agree best romantic song writer. But hadn’t heard The Getaway. So thanks for that recommendation.
Listened to Jordan too. Agree. Very special song.

Paper Kites not bad but a little bit too Country for me.
Delighted you liked Jordan
Just so I'm not overselling them as that kind of band, here's something more like what they do normally - https://youtu.be/wRfRIXg2spo?feature=shared |

"I'm mad for some good old fashioned Honky Tonk. You can't beat a good fiddle solo with some yodeling. Hank Williams and the likes."
This is about as close to Country as I get but hope you like it. This guy worked with The Pogues and is the real version of Galway Girl too
