"Most raves these days are just an excuse for instagramers to pose and take pics. "
This is exactly why I go to free parties and not commercial raves anymore. I miss it but still all the phones out is so irritating! |

Was very involved with the free party scene in the UK years back and prefer that vibe to clubs. Is there much of a scene in Ireland? There seems to be very slim pickings with regards EDM in Cork anyways. |

It's tough doing outdoor parties in Ireland as you're not only battling logistics/legalities, you're also guaranteed to be up against the weather!
They do still happen but mostly summer months obviously :D
Bangbike up North do some fun stuff!
The club scene has shrunk massively, probably a combo of restrictive licencing, financial pressures and many events moving to non 'club' type venues again. There's very little in the way of small size 'underground' clubs left... but constraints also bring opportunity! |

If you want to stay in Ireland check out Index - they bring some great international Techno Djs to Dublin and just off Wexford St in Opium. I've been to some amazing gigs there. A really good starting point.
Silo in RDS - New venue for Raves
Lots going on in Belfast too. The Emerge Festival is really good and plenty of International Djs play there all the time.
As for bigger festivals Sonar, Drumcode, Amakenings and Tomorrowland are all insane and worth the trip.
Enjoy!

Berlin or Amsterdam would be my go to back in the day
Depending on when you’re going , Beyond The Pale is the business. The rave in the woods is some craic.
The Trad Rave lads might be back which is class |

Don’t listen to the bemoaners about rave being dead in Ireland, it’s not. Get your fine selves to belfast. It’s alive and well. If you want a proper sweaty one look up Ulster Sports Club, Schmutz nights are the best.
Go for it!! |
