Its called Sinners to accommodate the new students going to university.
The Gay community are pissed off over it because all the LGBTQ flags have been removed along with other material.

I don't think they should be slated for rebranding , I think all bars are very LGBTQ Friendly nowadays and this is where they see their market now as being a bar for everyone, As a business you have to do what's best for you so instead of focusing on one area they want to cater for all , the bar/club concept has suffered since covid and I guess if they can keep people employed and in their jobs that's the most important thing . Every entertainer Music/Comedy/Drag Shows etc have had a lot of their gigs cancelled in venues purely to a lack of attendees since covid.
People of all communities gay or straight have one time or another have to put up with abuse from someone on a night out which is not right in any way it form of course , Bar Entertainers are not salary based the are self employed individuals so of course it's disappointing to lose gigs but it's not the responsibility of the venues to secure their future . I can understand the dissapointment of the community but as a Business person I can see both sides. |

I'm really really disappointed that Cork has lost its only gay bar. I know LGBT folk are of course welcome elsewhere, but it's only going to make things harder for young people not having a go-to place. I know it's a commercial decision and that a business has to turn a profit to survive, but it's still sad and I feel Cork is worse off without it. |

V good points made but I think their gripe is that the performers got little or no notice it was happening
Anyway if it’s a social few days Oliver plunkett st anywhere left or right off it should be good enjoy |

Sunday nights… Dwyers will have live music, as will Reardens, JJ Walshes, Clancys and the Oliver Plunkett. Reardens will be open till 2, as will Barbarossa. Brick Lane is a decent spot of you are looking for drinks and to chat.
Then there are a few places outside of the city center that will be decent. Douglas, Ballincollig, Carrigaline, Glanmire. Not huge choices in bars, but it kinda depends on where you’re staying. If it’s city center you have much more choice. |

The Pav and Oyster tavern are likely the places to check out if you're looking for LGBT friendly places. Otherwise just check out the pubs on Oliver plunket street or north/south main Street, plenty of nice pubs there |
