The Quiet Man, The field, Mad about Dog, The Comments, The Van, The Snapper, Into the West, Angela's Ashes, War of the Buttons, Into the West, The Butcher Bop, Agnes Browne, The Banshee of (Eisheiree). To name a few.

I'm kidding, it was the Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil. It was basically Local Defense Forces or an Army Reserve. You'd go away for a few weeks every year for a bit of training in soldiering. Would have been fairly basic stuff!..Was very popular in some areas! |

The blue max 60s film about ww1 had scenes shot in Ireland..believe a dog fight with planes going under a railway viaduct was shot near fermoy..
I'm led to believe tench scenes with irish army as extras..
As mentioned previously most of braveheart was filmed in Ireland again I believe had irish army as extras..
Saving private ryan d day scenes were shot on Welford beaches..again I believe had irish army as extras..
Was there any truth in an urban myth
The irish army had a recruitment drive with the tag line ..'join the irish army and be a film star'..?

A good 10 years back
Can recall watching an Irish home film...
Memory bit vague..but roughly about a guy taking dogs round the country competing in greyhound races..quite funny..
