Did you ever move into a new place only to discover it hadnt been totally cleared out.

whats the wierdest stuff you've found left behind by previous tenants?

For me it was (in the 90's) a packet of pounded yam.

and (in the noughties) a pile of old wood and walking sticks.

East / North, Cork

Not quite the same but we once moved out of a rented apartment and somehow managed to leave a buttplug behind. Unfortunately I was renting from a mate and he thought it was hilarious to bring it to a pub one night when we were out and wave it about in front of everyone

kinda dublin

I once saw a suspiciously cut floor board in the cubby hole under the stairs. Lifted it and found a secret safe embedded in the floor, and searched more and found the key hidden nearby.

It was pretty much the most excited I've ever been in my entire life, so called all my flatmates for the opening ceremony.

All that was in it was an old Dublin Bus ticket. It was pretty much the most underwhelmed I've ever been in my entire life.

Kildare

A small Coke bottle with a condom pulled over it, left behind on top of a wardrobe, it was double bagged and binned rapidly

Limerick

A packet of white powder left on top of kitchen presses. Not being quite au fait with white powderous substances, we held on to it to test it but got bored and dumped it eventually.

somewhere

I lifted up a carpet in my first house in 91

Found newspapers from the 60's under it in perfect condition and it was a great nights entertainment reading all the news and house prices

I actually bought newspapers the day each of my kids were born and they have them as souvenirs to give them a laugh when they read them

He had died 20 odd years before we got the house but his window still lived in the house

I visited her in the nursing home to give her post and flowers

I asked her about stuff in the attic

She said she didnt know what was up there as he only went up
