So the 'age',thing, preference or however you view it exists on Fab.
So I have a question. For those of you who do not appear to be the age you are. Be it looking years younger or that bit more mature than your vintage.
Has it been pointed out to you? Positively or negatively? Indulge my curious mind,as try to make a little sense of a comment relating to the fact, my vintage and appearance don't exactly match. |

What I like are the stories of people walking into socials or meets and blatantly lying about their age and getting pulled up on it
I presume its because of filters
I think Im in my 30's when I close my eyes
Getting out of bed in the mornings I know I'm 58 .....and there's lots of 50 something year olds that are fine with that ....and so am I |

People don't believe I'm the age I am.
I've been told I could pass for at least 10 years younger.
In relation to fab though I've never considered lying about it mainly because I'm more than happy with how I look at my age and if that means I'm flying the flag for the aul lads I'm good with that. |

We've been told that we both look younger than our ages. I'd say it's the case alright but only marginally.
Have met a few Dorian Grays but many many more who must have had a hard fucking paper round |

"Eh, anyone telling me I look younger than I am is assumed to be blowing smoke up my ass.
You look much younger than your age
I smell smoke"
That's not smoke silly, that just a smell of youth. Embrace it |

I'm 50 and there are times I definitely feel it and look it as well I've been told I look younger but I don't know if I believe that .It's the age I am and there is no point in pretending that I'm younger than I am by lying about my age. |

"Personally I can't think I've ever been told that I look younger than I actually am.
For some reason a woman at work was wondering what age I was, she though I was 10 year's older than I actually am, before I told her & the 2 other women that were in our company at the time.
During my early twenties I knew I had an old head on young shoulders.
Some morning's alright I do feel older than I actually am, them days I'm not looking forward to getting older.
All that said, I am the age I am & I can't stop what curvy ball's life throws at me. Just have to (asept) them & move on. "
Your last sentiment there, bang on |

Im 46 and no doubt i look older sometimes, especially now that my hair has decided to give up fighting to stay brown and has become more grey and white. It doesnt help that i dont cut it often enough and push the hair gel to its limits like the other posters, i feel a hell of a lot older some morning when i get out of bed - hips, knees and calves groaning and moaning. Feck knows what ill be like when i actually get to the age i look like in the morning |

I think perception is the key word here, it's how other people, or you yourself, think a person should appear at a given age.
that seems a bit of a redundant concept nowadays with all the interventions that can be made to your appearance.
So I take what others say with a pinch of salt and if I feel good in myself I'm happy. |

I dont lie about my age here and quite frankly I just don’t get why people do it. I’ve been told a couple times I look older than my age though. Who wants to hear that onwards and upwards. I’ll keep using my night creams

People do it to get around the age filters of others. And maybe because they're delusional... |

It's a form of social distant rimming. Maybe puffing or analfumus would be a good name for it. "

I don't feel old, like alot of the people I know that are the same age but when people tell me I don't look it, I assume they are just after something... I don't care, I look how I look and I am happy with that |

Obviously some people get away with it.... I know that for a fact....
Anyhow you could argue applying filters to your photos that lift any blemish, wrinkle, cellulite etc is same kinda thing. |

Outside your age preference DH? Should I lie? 6+ years is a long wait and you preference may extend with age |

I would dare say that digitally altering a photo to appear younger is a step beyond typing a number in a profile.
Many of us edit our photos to best effect. It's creative and fun.
Yet there are extreme examples where people look nothing like their photos or the use pics that are ten years old. |

I'm 49 and some days I feel it, some days I feel like I'm 30 and I'm told I look younger. Thank god for good genes.
I don't see why lie about your age , way I see it embrace it and enjoy it.
I love that I'm at an age where I just don't give a crap anymore, if people don't like me they can jog on.

Indeed!
"I would dare say that digitally altering a photo to appear younger is a step beyond typing a number in a profile."
and in the real world it's makeup, hair dye, face fillers, hair transplants, Botox etc.
With so much to play with theres no real standard as to what a person can be expected to look like at a certain age. |

Of course!
Makeup and hair and fashion all build on a persons real physical self. They accentuate, highlight and define and refine.
A photo can, and sometimes is, altered beyond reality and when meeting said person big surprises can happen. |

Age is inevitable, maturity isnt...
Im always told I dont look my age...then I look in a mirror and see all the lines they have obviously missed....
But...I like myself more at my age now than I did when I was younger....
I dont mind my age, I mind my aging body...
Sometimes I wish I was 10 years younger....but then, I wouldn't be me |

Hubby and me have been told we look a lot younger but we are 100% honest with our ages and pics. Zero filters used. If someone doesn't like what they see better finding out then rather than having an awkward social meet. |
