Women! Ladies! Men! Gentlemen!

Myself and Dirk had a wee discussion...

Ladies, imagine your life if you would have had sufficient pockets in all your clothes... what it would have been like? What would be different?

Gents, imagine if you would have spent your whole life wearing clothes with no pockets or pockets so small - they would barely fit a single condom in them - what would be different in your life?

I can't imagine anything worse!!! I'd have probably used a manbag... actually,I wouldn't! All I carry are my wallet, phone and keys so I can safely say I'd have lost them many times over the years!! And still wouldn't have used a manbag

The sheer unadulterated joy of finding out that gorgeous dress you adore has pockets just goes to show how pocket-poor we women are. Pockets are life!

I’ve no patience for carrying bags so I need pockets. It’s a good job I wear jeans a lot which usually have 2 pockets if I’m lucky..

Apparently there’s no pockets in women’s clothes so they can’t hide a weapon in them.. which gave rise to large pointed hair pins and grips which could be used to defend a maiden’s honour.

Quite a lot of European men actually carry a man bag. Mainly because they don't like to have their pockets bulging and ruining the cut of their trousers. A tailor in Rome explained it to me over a beer one night. Not sure if he was being serious tbh

I never use my pockets

The only pockets I want are in my yoga pants or exercise gear. I guess that makes me a bag lady

If I've learned one thing the past few years... Irish men are very insecure about the man bag!

Sometimes if I have too much stuff for pockets I throw one around me. Only for casual use really. And I go around by bike a bit, so it's much more comfortable than having a bulky set of keys/wallet/phone/sunglasses in the pockets.

I don't like having stuff in pockets unless it's a coat or jacket

It’s completely unnecessary, that’s what pockets are for. And anyway how much stuff do men carry that they need a bag

If I'm strolling into town for example and it's a nice day, I'll probably just have a t-shirt and jeans on. Putting anything even semi-bulky in back jeans pockets is impractical. So if I have a phone, wallet, house keys, medication, and sunglasses... and only the use of 2 front jeans pockets... it's just handy.

I own a dress that has pockets. Have had offers of over a million for it, y’know.

I need pockets - AND a bag .

I'm the kind to bring the kitchen sink on holiday so whatever that translates to never being without pockets or a bag full of useful stuff when out and about.

A girl can't leave the house without her phone, keys, purse and glasses - and I can definitely not be without tissues, babywipes, painkillers, plasters (not needed one in 10 years ), snacks, hand cream etc etc

This!! Or recently I got a jacket with pockets on the inside! Not just 1 small pocket but 2 large pockets. Heavenly.

I’ve two tracksuits that have zero pockets in the jacket or the bottoms. I love them as there are super comfortable but nightmare at times when you need your hands but you’ve got stuff in them.

Yesterday I was taking dinner and dessert up to our Nana and I was trying to balance two sets of keys, a phone, a plate and bowl. Near dropped everything four or five times get through two locked doors.

Pockets aren't just essential for stuff though, they are where hands go to rest or warm up.... It's a bad day when I find myself in a pocketless outfit

Does the whole lack of pockets for ladies come from the bygone days when ladies were seen as kept the men took care of the finance there was credit in every shop the man didn't shop but paid the bills. So the ladies didn't need to carry much . Just an idea .

Before the back lash I am not saying it was right.

If you get caught with your hands in your pockets you may have to sew them closed, if you know you know…..

Pockets in your yoga pants - that would be sacrilege - your gorgeous curves would end up with lumps. Yoga pants need to be smooth all over

Before the back lash I’m just saying no amount of pockets would hold what some ladies feel they should carry around. I am not saying I’m right either.

Never had an issue with carrying stuff in a bag, the idea of calling it a manbag is plain stupid though.

In this scenario, does a man get to carry a bag of various shapes, sizes and colours, depending on the occasion or activity involved?

The stuff I find in my own pockets - when I check them for washing - is unreal. There's a whole 'lost and found' box on top of my washing machine, a fair amount of screws of all sizes in it, I seem to have an affinity for screws.

Anyhow an elegant dress/skirt might look shit with pockets, turning into an apron or overall, so that's where the hand bag comes in but I do envie the inner pocket, google says it's called jetted pocket, that only comes in men's suit jackets but not in women's....

Mobile phones have been designed to fit into pockets.

If men's pockets were teeny tiny like ladies, I bet our phones/wallets and everything else would be smaller to fit also.

I must say I agree

Some women need a small suit case not pockets or bags

Personally all I ever willingly carry with me is a vape, phone and keys.

It is so frustrating that I can count on my fingers how many items of clothing I own that have pockets big enough for those 3 items so I'm forced to either permanently walk around with full hands or carry a handbag that I didn't want to take with me in a first place

I had a woman come up to me at our wedding and say just this!! The jealousy from all the other women was unreal

My sister found a wedding dress with pockets in it and was going to get it till she realised she would walk round all day with her hands in the pockets showing everyone

One Christmas When I was young I told my mum that I cant decide to ask for some new clothes or something to play with.

So she satified both my needs by buying me a pair of trousers and cutting the pockets out.
