It’s the last Dermot & Dave show on TodayFM this morning…. Dermot going out on his own the focus on his Mind Fill brand…
Got me thinking…. Who has taken a tough “ life changing” decision to jump out of your comfort zone to focus on something you’re passionate about? And did it work out the way you thought / hoped it would ?
I’m sure there are a few “fab” stories out there!

Reading this post makes me realise that's just what I'm in.
But wasn't BRAVE enuff to get out of comfort zone.
Actually not comfortable in my comfort zone.

Walked away from a company group after 34 years due to them giving credit to others for my ideas. New job seemed like a great idea at the time and completely out of my comfort zone but only got a year before covid hit and let go after 6 months on furlough.
Now in a job where I'm appreciated even though it's much less money but that first step is the hardest. |

I left a top job in engineering twenty years ago and ran away with the circus. I worked in orphanages and refugee camps in on the Burmese border with Thailand.
I never went back to engineering. I didn't fit there despite my skills and success and I found my people in the creative world.
It was terrifying to give up a regular paycheck for the insecure job of a self employed performing artist but it worked out quite well.
I changed career again since then. It was less scary the second time. |

Working in refugee camps for a while, changed my view of the world we live in. It took a few years, but eventually jumped ship, and re trained. Now, I do what I love. Im so happy I did it. |

I've not been listening to the radio that much at all lately so I didn't know about this at all. I did like dermot and dave show, they worked very well together and fed of one another's infectious laughs. They were like to super giddy teenagers and I got many a laugh from them. You could see how the show would strain when one of them had to do the show on their own, it just wasn't the same. All in all I think the show has run its course and its probably not a bad thing to move on.
I made a move myself some years ago it off a very comfortable position to a new job altogether and where there was a couple of real shitty years to start what I have now, wild horses couldn't drag me away from. Everything happens for a reason.

Im hughly dissapointed they are coming to a end.. Like a pack of giggly friends they filled many car drives with laughter over the years.
It makes me think of friendships because they're personalities are so different. Those friends that are different to you but are the glue that keeps it going.

I've heard of them but never heard their show so I've no idea what I've missed.
I stopped listening to a few radio stations because the same presenters broadcasting for years had become boring and inane.
Changing things up now and again is a positive. |

Same to be honest, I don't listen to radio shows at all anymore, not even when commuting! |

Haven't heard them in year's, cause of work. They were great together, as they bounced off eachother very well. Can't see it working with Dave on his own or with someone. Time will tell, in the end.
Good for Dermot, hopefully it works out for him. 
Me personally
Being on here is me completely out of my comfort zone, on a few levels. How long I'll be here is a question for another day.
In the Normal world or my life. I've never been in a job long enough to class it as a career. The job I'm in now is the only job that I'm in, that I've done for too long. That'll be changing within the next 12 month's, 1 way or the other. Anything that I'm passionate about or feel that way about, something has always stopped me from doing it.
I've thought of moving away over the year's. I've nothing really major to keep me living here in the long term. If I do move away, I'd be way out of my comfort zone again.
Don't like being out of my comfort zone or what's became my comfort zone. Any time I think about it or try to, thing's always go wrong & to shit, in someway or another. 
That might change with me being on here, time will tell 1 way or the other.  |

As bad as covid was it made people see work and life in a completely different light so many have packed in their old jobs moved to jobs where you can work from home and alot more people like myself have moved into more artistic jobs.
