Far far away

Wondering what the average age was to start with and the drink. Perhaps the situation too for context.

None of my friends had access to alcohol until they were 17 or 18 but I can't remember what they were drinking.

I've never tasted alcohol for various reasons, the main one being personal choice.

12. A bottle of stout while saving hay. It was sweated out pretty quickly with all the hard work.

I still prefer bottle Guinness to draught if I can get it.

The tae and soda bread while working in the fields was also amazing.

O God.

I was a child(REALLY) when I had my first alcohol drink. Don't remember it, for some reason.

I was 6, at home my mam, uncle & a neighbour of there's, was in the house. The boys thought they'd make a small joke out of me. They gave me a bottle of Guinness, got me to sit on the floor & drink it through a straw.

From around 10 or 11 on, some year's while helping the uncle with silage might have a bottle of Guinness. There's something about the taste of Guinness from a bottle alright.

Out in public rightly I was 17. In a pub after work, had my first pint of Heineken. Was going to the pub with a few lads after work, on a Friday, wasn't drinking, for a few month's beforehand. Until 1 Friday 1 of them said that they were going to get me a pint. It started from there really. I drank it for year's afterwards. Over time I copped on that it was hard to get a consistent standard pint of Heineken in the different pubs. Don't usually drink it anymore, can't say the standard of pints has changed in different pubs.

"The half bottle of Guinness when I suffered from asthma as a child"

I forgot to say that it was the half bottle of Guinness that I used to drink. In the 6 year old story & mainly from 10 or 11, while helping the uncle at silage time. The odd time might get a full(pint) bottle.

I suffered from asthma as a child aswell. Hay used to kill me(so to speak)

No harm in that at all. I had 4 pints of Smihtwicks, 1 night. Just made it inside the back gate, near the wall, on grass & got sick. It but me off drinking it again, for a very long time, believe me. Ya, the next morning can be a killer alright.

Are you still drinking Smithwicks, change drink or not drinking anymore?

A can of Heineken when I was 14.

To be honest I didn't like the taste of it, but I was determined to look cool. I didn't drink again for about 2 years, at which point I took to it like a fish. I don't drink at all now

.

I'm not a big drinker. If I'm out I usually have craft beers. Never touch Smithwicks after that

Nothing wrong with that either. I'm not that big of a drinker meself now either. O right, very good. Around me here, I don't think any of them sell craft beer, not off the top of my head anyway's. O right. Well I have, thankfully no repeats like I said earlier.
