Naturist beaches

With the increase in posts here about visiting naturist beaches it got me wondering.

Are those going hoping for sexy action (or to see some sexy action)? Are you going to purely enjoy the freedom of being naked in the great outdoors?

I see often, people saying things like "there were only two other couples there" or "there were only 20 men" and it got me thinking what that has that got to do with naturism? Are people who are confusing naturism with the sexual spoiling it for true naturists and naturist families who just want a day at the beach?

Belfast

I've never been to one but have thought about it and one of the things putting me off is the impression that there are a lot of people who do struggle with what naturism is actually about.

There are lots of comments here about the meerkats but I've seen a few from couples as well complaining about the lack of other couples or single women so it seems that ignorance is widespread.

See I'd love to visit one - I'm off work this week and the weather is set to be fine - but I'm also not entirely at ease with going because of how I see it discussed on here.

Then I'm reminded of a naturist beach near where I lived who faced a protracted legal battle to save it's naturist status because of unwanted and unwelcome activity that was taking place. Is it fair on true naturists that those who use the beaches for sexual activity are misusing those spaces?

somewhere

I'm a naturist, someone that goes to a beach to strip off and enjoy the freedom of no clothes in the sunshine.

I also travel to spa days in Amsterdam and Germany just for a long day trip to travel and nude swims every few weeks in Ireland

I've actually been naked with fab friends on beaches and nothing has happened which suits us all at the time

I did notice the 20 men men comment in another thread and actually know some of them... they were on that beach to enjoy the sunshine

That beach is actually one of the busiest nude beaches in the country

The other beach in North Dublin I only go with friends but we mostly go to another beach now where there's no dunes

That's exactly what I meant. It shouldn't matter who else is there - man, woman or child - if your purpose in going there is just to enjoy the beach naked

The way we were last year in the glorious sunshine at the weekend away was perfect ... everyone enjoying the sunshine and not a lot of clothes on

I must agree wholeheartedly with this comment.

There is a misconception about naturism in general.

There's room for everyone in this world, we just need to be respectful.

The INA is a great place to start for those who simply enjoy being naked outdoors.

It really shouldn't matter if there's no one else there or 50 people there, you're doing it for your enjoyment, that feeling of liberation.

I enjoy naked time at beaches solo but also at beach days run by the INA.

I think naturists should be left to enjoy their freedom, I’d be too afraid to go and give off the wrong message if I got an erection

Believe it or not erections are very rare on nude beaches

It's not a crime and others won't think any worse of you if you just cover yourself with a towel while it goes down

It all depends what it is one wants to achieve. Ones mindset plays a pivotal role.

Not as common as people might think.

Go and enjoy, always have a towel close just incase.

I love being naked outdoors but I can definitely see why going to a naturist spot is a turn off as I’ve had a few experiences of going to one and the creepy old men just lurk around you watching. Not a pleasant experience for anyone new that’s trying to get into naturism.

City centre/Naas

If I got make on a beach I'd be blinding people with my paleness, then shortly after I'd be burnt red.

True enough. I never saw one accidental erection on our camping weekend last year

Galway

I go alot mainly in Galway.

But it seems to be full of gay men cruising for fun. They can be very intimidating. I go on my own and never stay close to the group who think they have to put on a show for everyone passing. I have a few female friends who would never go back because of these few idiots who think everyone that goes there is looking for sex.

Don’t think it’s unreasonable for swingers going to nude beaches to discuss the proportion of couples/men/women attending a nudist beach - whether it’s to make connections with like minded people or to simply enjoy checking out persons they find physically attractive - similar to ‘checking out’ others on non-nudist beaches. The prospect of being the only female on a nudist beach full of men (a proportion of whom will leer, and a proportion of whom won’t) doesn’t appeal to me, so I’m glad of the commentary on here - it makes our mind up not to go. If on the other hand there was an even spread, we’d be attracted by the prospect of meeting (chatting, not playing) with couples in that kind of environment.

Check out The INA

Trawlua beach near Cliffoney in Sligo is another beach used by naturists like myself. I’ve been told on here that a number of young men were pestering a M/F couple there recently so they had to leave. Naturists generally go to get naked outdoors not for sexual activity with others. I hope to go later this month when I have some time off work. Irish Naturist Association are on Facebook. They provided me with lots of info

I think lads cruising on beaches happens everywhere, especially if beaches are quite, but if you ignore them they move on, only once had I to tell a lad to f off , that was last year in Spain
