Always wanted to try this and keen to know how many people do it, spots to hit and if there is a fab group doing it!

Also be great craic and good informal way of meeting others.

We swim in the sea 2-3 times a week.

Absolutely love it. It’s a great way the clear the head and revitalize the body.

2 - 3 times a week I head up to lough bray near the Sally gap... stunning location and crystal clear fresh water ... you come out squeaky clean with your spirit soaring !

i travel all over

I swam in Two different spots yesterday in Galway , a beach and a lake . There are outdoor changing rooms by the diving tower in salthill with tonnes of people swimming . Blue flag beaches have a guard on duty if you’re nervous . Even if you don’t swim dipping your feet in makes you feel good . It’s 23 degrees at the moment so its very refreshing to have a dip and not cold at all

I swim most days all through the year (wetsuit in winter)

It's an amazing sensation. Clears the head and invigorates the body. Lakes , rivers and the sea.

I can't recommend it enough especially at this time of year..

Yep I swim year round in Salthill. 2 or three times a week at least.

If you start in summer it's easy enough to climatise as it gets colder.

I don't wear a wetsuit but I do have a good neoprene cap and giggles.

Swimming up to 1km now

I do when I get the opportunity, have been known to break the ice in winter to get in for a dunk. Its a great natural therapy for anyone struggling with mental health issues.

I used to be in a gym with an outdoor pool.

Swam 3 times a week throughout the year. Not the same is the sea but still a great way to start the day.

Nowadays a cold shower is as good as it gets!

Getting back into the water is the first step. It's kinda addictive after a little bit.

Find a spot where there's a few swimmers near you. I've always found them to be a friendly bunch whetever I swim. Always up for a chat. Safety in numbers too.

There's a fb group of skinny dippers and most of them are north of the border, if you'd like the link shoot me a dm, I don't think I'm allowed to post it here.

You don't need to swim to get the full benefits from cold water therapy. Just sit in the water up to your chest for up to 7 to 8 mins, 3 to 4 times a week. And you'll feel amazing. Great for your mental health and body

Most days esp during the summer. During the winter...nope.

I swim out anywhere between 500 to 700 meters and thread water. look back at the coast. Or just do the run around the buoys. Wetsuit and float for safety. packed lunch optional. It's a thrill actually. A high.
