Stairs to the rooms straight ahead of you when you enter. Lobby and lifts to the right.

Most hotels do have a sign stating that the bedrooms are for paying customers only and not guests
Walking past reception with one or two people is generally not a problem its trying to get in a group that you have to improvise |

Yes I did this recently with my massage fantasy. That's fine if your meeting extra person. But eyebrows might be raised if you asked for six keys! Also some hotels you need key to access lift. |
