Pay off part of the large national debt because the tax windfall from the technology sector is not going to last; the pension system is fundamentally bankrupt and in the near future there will be too many older people to pay from taxes generated by young workers.

Free prescriptions and build new hospitals.

The possibilities are too many to list, and the sum of 65,000,000,000 cannot stretch to them all!

But why give back what everyone else in europe had to borrow to get them through covid

Why should we give this windfall to Europe if it’s ours

No point in paying down the debt when the interest levels are high.

Capital investment projects, public transport, rail upgrades, power generation and clean water as they are all at their max when the population is growing so we are going to need more.

They all want us in electric cars but there is not enough power in the grid to charge the things.

Pay off national debt, reduce social welfare payments except for the most needy as we have a jobs boom, cancel all rent supports except for the most needy (only way rents will fall). Build a new or extend all hospitals.

Install solar electric on every home in the country (similar to national broadband plan)

Save at least 30% of it.

Set up a dedicated national Hosue building company and stop buying houses from the private sector at extortionate rates.

Pay Public sector healthcare staff 50% more !!!!

"USC was only supposed to be a short term tax measure when the banks went tits up.

Only good thing about USC is everyone pays and when you pay for something you appreciate it. I don't like the tax but the more people that pay tax the fairer and more resilient the system is.

The squeezed middle is caused by others not paying tax, things have to be funded from somewhere.

"Mortgages, give money to help people who mortgages have increased by hundreds a month due to ECB rates increases. "

Why ? That's the nature of borrowing money, when it's cheap at low interest rates you benefit but when rates go up you dont, why should the taxpayer fund private mortgages.

But what about giving everyone on the island a million euro and that’s it don’t come back complaining

Imagine no more borrowing from Europe for welfare etc

And a lot would probably even create employment from there windfall

That’s it one payment that we don’t have to borrow for 5 million out of 65 billion

Release land from local councils for people to build their own home how they like it

Hospital and doctor bills sort them yourself unless in some cases that it is too serious then the government step in

A nation of millionaires sure wouldn’t it be great

And sure the sun is coming I can see myself self on Youghal beach with a cigar, saying don’t worry Rodney this time next year we’ll be millionaires

I agree with most of the thing's you say on here, apart from cutting the social welfare payments or any extra supports. Just cause there's a "Job's boom" doesn't mean there's a job for everybody to not be on the dole. As stupid as that sound's to some people. It's far from easy being on the dole, your looked down on, while on the dole, by other people. "HAP" scheme that helps to pay with rent, is a load of rubbish of scheme. If you've NEVER been on the dole, you'll never understand what it's like being on it.

They want to give back the 14bn euro to apple. They are allowing Meta/Facebook along with other multinationals to build dáta centres só They can make People redundant. So more than likely they will use it to win the next election, before making us to pay for loses. This is only predicted winfall. Over next 5 yrs. It's not money in the bank. They will give grants to vulture funds to build these wind farms and then allow them to charge through the roof for electricity.

The first paragraph of that has an element of "let them eat cake" about it.

I'd happily agree with most of the rest of it. Paying wage increases out of windfall taxes risks rising inflation though.

We all want better and faster Internet with more online storage so it's hardly "them" doing this so they can cut jobs.

There are more people employed in the world today than at any time in the past.

I was only messing Mick, I tried to add more illogical stuff to the nonsense but I failed to get it across ... anyhow data centres don't create jobs but also don't destroy them but suck a lot of energy. We need them for all the data about us reaped from the likes of Facebook, Tesco club card etc. When future archeologists dig into the data in 5000 years time they'll be flabbergasted by the data hunter gatherers....
