Ireland should ban vaping as Australia recently did, Tanaiste Micheal Martin said this week.
Personally, I'd be 100% with the Australian view that this is 'Big Tobacco' coming back, marketing these products in an attractive way to lure younger people, and placing them next to sweets in shops so micky martin said last week
I personally think this is a step too far infringing on our rights as consumers and free citizens , there is only so much nanny statism you can put up with before it becomes sickening, is this tool from Cork right in what he's saying? |

I agree ban vaping. It’s another new addiction for young people. All these vaping shops are popping up in towns and villages all over the country mostly in shops where other businesses could not survive. Makes you wonder how they can pop up over night. I reckon there’s under the counter ‘white stuff’ on offer too!! |

The sale of vapes to under 18s has already been banned back in November surely that's enough restriction, adults can make their own decisions in life and should have the freedom to do so, another erosion of our freedom if an all out ban goes ahead |

Vaping is gone beyond a joke in this country. Kids are being lead to believe its the new cool thing. I'm a manager for a retail company and have had several run ins with customers vaping in the shop. As I stated to the customer would they light up a cigarette in the shop to which the reply was god no. So how do they think vaping is acceptable to do then. I'm an ex smoker and understand its hard to give up. 1 of my kids trainers for rugby is continuously vaping during training and doesn't set good example so I agree 100% they should be banned |

I wouldn't be too well medically educamacated quite the opposite end of the scale but noticed most young and old people viping always seem to be coughing or runing with a head cold...
God knows what chemicals are in these and worse future health risks.
I'd be going for the head of the source and
'guillotine, that's my take right or wrong!

The government approved the introduction of restrictions in November, I don’t think this had been enacted yet. |

My local vape store won't sell to under 18s and ask for I.D. if they think your under 18. As far as I'm aware that's a company wide policy for them that's been in effect for a number of years.
As for banning vapes I would prefer if they didn't as vaping has managed to keep me from smoking cigarettes for the last few years. Tighter control is needed especially among the stores selling them to under 18s. Tired of seeing kids with them especially those elf bar yokes. |

It's such a ridiculous argument isn't it, literally everything in life is harmful, moderation is the key not blanket banning everything just because some people are pigs they ruin it for everyone else |

The solution is to ban children altogether if there was no children then they wouldn't be abusing vapes, like really this is the next step of this ridiculousness, ban everything take away our freedom |

It seems to be very strict new law,was reading up on it,while is there to protect people obviously and which I agree with, it will also stop debate and opinions which is not good. You take freedom of speech and what have people left.Just my opinion

The research into all of this is new.
I definitely think it should be better regulated.
Much of the ed. around regular smoking has pushed a generation away from that and vaping is a good way to make up the loss (I used to be a smoker back in the day, never vaped but can tell you that there are some days where you'd have a hankering for one)
You'd be surprised with the number of 16-20year olds who have never "traditionally smoked" (apart from the spiff) but are vaping. |

Drug prohibition isn't working. Ban it and they'd be sold illegaly. Totally against a ban.
Prevention programmes would do a better job. However that would mean to engage with our youth and to spend money but I don't get the impression that the ff/fg bunch really cares about the future generations of this country and would go down that route.

Totally agree regards prohibition, it doesn't work. But we could ban flavours targeted at youth and also the small disposable ones. These appear to be in abundance in an party or social gathering I've been to recently.
I know people now who never smoked, but they're vaping!
I'll meet people at work, stop to chat for two seconds and next thing they've pulled out the peace pipe and start vaping. A smoker wouldn't pull out a cigarette if stopping for a two second chat!

Should they be put behind counters and the rules on advertising tightened up / enforced? Yes,
They are clearly been advertised at children, with the packaging.
If adults want to vap? Knock themselves out. |
