Michael D's sad loss: Brod

Newry Down

Anyone who is a dog lover will understand how both Michael D and Sabina are feeling at present, having just lost their Bernese, Brod, at the age of 11, which is a really good age for this specialist breed.

Large canines and highly bred pedigree dogs tend to have shorter lives, and suffer from a range of inherited conditions.

Crossbreeds tend to live longer, principally because of a phenomenon known as canine hybrid vigour.

I know from hard personal experience that the loss of a beloved pet animal is a devastating experience, from which one does not easily recover.

My sympathies go out to them.

Charles the Third and Camilla are to be crowned if you are in pageantry, pomp and circumstance, which a lot of the British public are into (in a big way) but which I am not, because I don't come from that cultural milieu.

Losing a pet is so hard. Same grief as a person.

My heart goes out to them.
