That moment when you're out and about and check who's near and someone happens to be at touching distance. Ever happened to you? What was your reaction?

wouldn't you like to know

I was having lunch on my travels and decided to switch on who is near.

Like that, a guys profile came up as being right round the corner. Liked the profile, so got brave and messaged.

He didn't see it till evening but we've been friends over a year now and had some great fun.

In other words, go for it ! Nothing to loose.

I guess it's ok if they have a nice profile and are verified and all.

A quarter of a mile in rural Leitrim might narrow it down to 50 people, or even less. A quarter of a mile in Dublin could still be thousands of people.

I'm fairly sure a quarter mile is the minimum distance it shows.

What do I do? Nothing. Being very close doesn't mean anyone is looking for a meet or that you are suitable for each other.

I never use it but the closest I've ever seen was within a mile which was irrelevant anyway as I don't contact people that way.

Thought I recognised someone sitting in a café and confirmed it actually was them on "who's near".

I sent a message saying hello.

The message was read but not replied to so I took it they didn't want to acknowledge the Fab connection on that occasion. So I respected their wish and left them to finish their coffee and leave.

Long may it stay that way.

It's a quarter of a mile not the shortest distance it shows, in which case it's never ever going to confirm anything about someone in the same room as you

Yep it is. If I was having a coffee and someone sent me a message saying they saw me sitting there I'd block them as I'd find it creepy as fk

Was on a stag in Cardiff & turned it on. Met for a few drinks & had to kick my roommate out of the hotel room for a couple hours
