For anyone that has had their NCT done recently. Got put on the priority list Monday, how long did you have to wait to get an appointment? NCT expires next week
Will booking the next available appointment (5 months away) take me off the list? Feel like I need something to show the guards if I get stopped? |

Just show the guards proof of a booking and they should let you off I know some people who's ncts are 6 months out of date, lots of people in the same boat |

Don't sweat it, their waiting list is off the charts, mine was out in February and an online booking gave me August!!
As above, I phoned, they said we'll get back to you
3 hours later I had an appointment for the following week
Any Garda should understand, and they surely know about the mad waiting lists..if you tell them you've phoned nct etc there should be no bother
One of the lads at work, his is out for 10 months! Keeps forgetting, and not one guard has hassled him |

Nct sent to the traffic cops letters for extended nct until day they give you, but when I got my nct they dated back from the proper date of expired, not from the date I had nct. |

I went on the priority list on a Thursday. On the following Tuesday I was given an appointment for the next Tuesday so about ten or eleven days in total. It varies from place to place and obviously depends on how busy they are. |

It has always been like that, as in, it has always been dated from the due date rather than the test date. |

Booked mine via priority and got within a week for next Tues, had to request a new as couldn't juggle work to accommodate it so two weeks later still waiting on new date and out the end of next week |

If you go online between midnight and 6am you may get an appointment that has been cancelled the previous day, last Thursday I checked at 5am and was offered 3 appointments, in nearby centers for that day. |

Does no harm to try a find a friend or a friend of a friend that works nct and ask them if they can help.i booked mine last november and was giving a date in march,in fairness that was done to cover my arse if i got a awkward guard at a checkpoint and for insurance reasons.but made a few calls ,this was on the tuesday and was told to have it in the centre for thursday..have done this with a few of our cars. |

You are better off ringing for an appointment or go online after midnight. The problem is people waiting until their car is up for test rather than booking an app within 90days before. Also if your car is overdue and almost a year out, you are better waiting until the year so you will then get a full year test again. |
