Correct me if I am wrong but does other folk here believe the same if you don’t attend events organized on here by a select few individuals you essentially don’t have a chance of connecting with anyone??? Just a theory |

I don't go to events, and I have no issue making connections.
There are of course groups of people who get to know each other and are more comfortable on each others company than less well known people but that's pretty natural in all parts of life.

I've never attended social events organised by select individuals, have never met the vast majority of people who comment on the forums, would never want to meet quite a few of them, don't blow smoke up anyones arse and just paddle my own canoe and it has never been difficult to meet one to one and make connections.
It's only cliquey if you make it that way and are bothered by what others are doing. |

People are drawn to positivity and humour on the forums, in the same way that they are in real life which is why such people tend to draw positive attention.
There are others who have met each other at socials etc and will be naturally drawn to chatting with each other on the forums as well.
However, some like to twist it into something that it is not, complain about it on here and do themselves no favours for the aforementioned reasons.

Lots of single guys here never attend events and they are regularly meeting. They have good profiles and pictures etc They are putting the effort in and reaping the Fab rewards. Meanwhile the will fill in later guys with one dick picture are bemoaning the cliques because that's surely the only reason they aren't knee deep in fanny. |

I thinking your theory is flawed my friend, I think it's not that you are being ostracised for not attending their events, but I believe this is a social lifestyle as much as it is a sexual one, if your not willing to make an effort to mix, mingle, socialise with other people in the lifestyle at events, parties or socials, I think swinging may not be for you.
I know all sorts of people use fab differently, but if you are, and I am not say that you specifically are, but if you are just looking for one on one meets with singles, then maybe, just maybe,,, there is other sites that would suit your search criteria better. Just my thoughts. |

I think fab is very like the iceberg analogy.
90% stays under the surface. Very definitely the majority never post on the forums or go anywhere near them. I didn't until last summer.
The events/parties/forumites might seem to be prolific and hold sway but most are only legends in their own small circles and it's all a very superficial 10% of fab.
It can of course help having a verification but they don't matter to many.
Making connections takes a certain social finesse online.
Is it harder to get noticed in the sea of online profiles than in person? Not sure. It's certainly 2 dimensional.
Definitely easier to get rejected and to reject.
Efforts made don't get rewarded with sex or social meets in equal measure.
It definitely takes a very resilient and patient mindset to stay the course.
And it pays to remember, there's no guarantee on here any more than if you parked yourself down your local and hung a sign around your neck.

You get out of Fab the effort you put in.
Whether you attend events or not there are plenty of single guys who do really well on here. They have great pics, good bios and engage with everyone (I mean good conversation whether in a message or on Forums).
Regards cliques it may appear there are but lots of the same people attend the same events regularly and people become friends. I have a lovely core good of friends and as with my Vanilla friends I look forward to seeing them at events.
I love our little community and it's good to keep it a positive and fun one

I’ve seen riffs on this thread 100 times over
It’s always easier to blame cliques and other factors for a lack of success.
Fab isn’t as easy as people believe when they join, it’s time consuming and a lot of legwork but worth it when it pays off |

I do get the intimidation factor on the forums.
And I try to give new people the same level of interaction I'd give a regular user.
I fail at it sometimes.
I definitely see newer posters getting a hard time for something a regular poster wouldn't.
To a degree that's natural as you get to know the tone someone posts in and might recognise sarcasm etc... that could be taken as a literal post by a newbie |

There are people on here that do know one another but that’s from going too events and the like you must remember they didn’t choose this lifestyle yesterday
Personally when I’m acting the goul on here people will tell me but I wouldn’t want it any other way
Stick with it hopefully there’s someone out there for you if not then it’s the same on any site keep trying |

I think, maybe, the clique seems real to people who are not daily forum users, who don't/can't attend socials/clubs to get to know the usual forum users or have tried the forums and gave it up as a lost cause.
Their odd comments on the forums are 99% of the time ignored and the post generally becomes a conversation between a few of the people who know each other via the socials.
Yes some do get a hard times for their comments which is sometimes fair, sometimes not.
So as said before, a majority of the fab population in Ireland (North & South) do not use the forums. |

The reason many people (incl myself) recommend events.. is that it makes meeting people so much easier. You can chat with loads of people over the course of an evening and (if you have any game) hopefully line up some people to meet more intimately later on. You could spend months having coffee meets and not meet as many people as 1 night at an event. You also get to filter out those you aren't physically attracted to. Its got nothing to do with who is organising the event. Events are a leg-up in the swinging world.
Also attending something in real life means that you are willing and able to get off your ass and do something in real life, so just turning up says something. So does not turning up. |

We are new to the forums but i think perhaps that some folks have expectations that will rarely if ever fulfilled on here and then blame cliques or the fact they never went to some event, Perhaps if those expectations were left behind and folks genuinely just had the craic on here they would find fun along the way as a pleasant surprise rather than chasing non stop and constantly being disappointed? |

Is there a clique? Is there a unicorn? Is there anyone up for the ride?
Everyone's experience and journey on here is different, some attend socials, some don't, some meet some don't.
I'm on off here over the last 4 + years and I have a group of friends, some are friends outside of fab and some are just fab friends, majority of my nights out are with my fab friends, I don't consider it cliquey I've found my tribe simple as.
I've never attended any of the clubs and I dont get treated differently because of it, I'm not a party goer, and I'm not treated differently. I'm probably the least swinging person going on here, its mid march I've had sex once this year again noone has ostracised me for this.
Treat fab and use fab how you want and let people jog on if they have judged you because you don't or do something they do.

I've only been to a handful of events they have been interesting and some better craic than others. I only know a handful of people who use the forums outside of the forums despite the fact I've used them for quite a while.
I don't do Kik groups anymore and I don't chat to loads either I never have as my life outside of here take precedence.
And yes it can appear cliquey on here at times. And yes it is hard to get any way known on here and sometimes newbies are treated like crap when they post, other times it's deserved when they come in all guns blazing attacking everyone. But we were all newbies at times and you just keep posting is what I found when I joined and people will get to know you.
Go to mng if you want to see what they are like but I've quite often spoken to people who have gone and they found them to be hard and not as friendly as people make them out to be. And yes I've experienced that at one myself as well. It can be very hard to approach a table full of people if you don't know anyone.
Fab is what you make it though. And yes you will get people who will bitch about others in the background but despite their belief that they have power on here the simple truth is no they don't .People can bitch and people can listen but there will be plenty who make up their own minds and ignore those who constantly are stirring shite.
Fab is what you make of it and yes it's tougher for guys on here. But at the same time plenty of men have success on here without going to mngs or using the forums. |

It's really only fair to point out that I'm pretty sure you trolled him by breaking forum rules and giving him unsolicited profile critique.
Your critique was a tad hypocritical btw, perhaps take your own advice.
No need to engineer a forum pile on.
Pretty sure this is exactly what earlier posters were referring to when they said new forumites get a hard time.

Thanks for the advice my friend..
Not actually looking for an invite to a party per say it’s more general connections without having to go to a swingers party.. my idea is to get a couple of meets either with individuals/couples to begin with and see where the road takes me further down the line in regards to parties events etc. that is all I was trying to say but if you see with your own eyes a lot of Charlie big potatoes here like to row in with in needed/wanted information |

Not all socials have Kik groups and not everyone is invited to join the groups as well. So yes there are people who have to go it alone and that can be very tough for someone who doesn't know anyone to attend. |

Honesty and the ability to police yourself and own it shows character.
Let that be your selling point to take away from this thread.
Lots who watch the forums will see you did.

The clique thread is one which recurs frequently in the forum; instigated by members who, dissatisfied by the infrequency of the replies or meets, vent about the existence of a clique or cliques in fab.
Success, however defined, is the result of many factors:attractive profile and participation on the forum; the filters and expressed preferences are important.
Cliques exist within all human organisations and those on the outside often deeply resent those on the inside track whose have more contacts friends and receive more invitations.
The key is attractiveness to as many members as possible, and minimisation of filters & restrictions.
Finally, if you remain on the outside of a clique, then start your own SIG: special interest group or esoteric clique that does satisfy your sexual needs.
You won't feel excluded and you can just disregard the other clique whom you previously criticised.
I don't know if a clique exists within Fab, and I don't care because I have always been a lone wolf who does his own thing.
Cliques interest me from a social psychology point, not from a desire to be an affiliated member.

"Correct me if I am wrong but does other folk here believe the same if you don’t attend events organized on here by a select few individuals you essentially don’t have a chance of connecting with anyone??? Just a theory "
Fab is certainly clicky but only really seen on the forums . It has been for years and years . Its a case that people like you to gently blend into the opinions and narratives already expressed by the "regulars". You can also see from the very many posts That there is a huge area of fab that has nothing to do with social parties. The forums can be difficult because as long as I am coming on and off fab there are small groups that tend to feel like they control the narrative. You also have people who are very opinionative you have people who are on here for different agendas altogether You also have people who are very opinionative you have people who are on here for different agendas altogether That don't have anything to do with meeting. You also have very honest straight talking folk who don't really pick sides or clicks and do their own thing. 5 is no different than the real world except for it is magnified if you spend time in the forms. I believe this is because the people who use fab without the need for all the social meets and parties also don't usually venture onto the forums very often. This means what you encounter on the forums is a small group of similarly minded people. There are some fabulous people on fab . My advice would be always be yourself because it's the only thing that's sustainable and if people find that you Bend and mold then you're only going to attract similar people.

Humans are tribal creatures . Yes, when not being part of a group any group appears as a clique and certainly there are groups which are somewhat more difficult to get in, but isn’t that a normal thing ? You can find this at all levels of life . The sports club one supports , the mates you meet in the local , the people you hang out with from work etc . If you take the effort to build bridges of trust you will get entry to the group , takes only one group member to reach out to and it may trigger an avalanche of new friends |

Oops sorry . I didn’t realise this was an ‘Ireland’ thread.
But whilst I am here I will ask if anyone likes my choice of green to make St Patrick’s day ? |

Some people will only talk to others on here that they know , their time is taken up with those that they already know and they won't give up that time to chat to Radom stranger's on the internet , some people will find that cliquey but to those involved it's not cliquey to them , the main thing is, wether here or in real life , never let the fun be taken out of it for you ,if you feel you have to change or be a different person just to please others well then it's game over for you , if people reply or chat ..great ..if they don't ..hey what about it ... they're simply not interested, don't worry one bit about it , have a great time regardless. |

The way the UK economy is going after Brexit there will be many more of them jumping across the Irish Sea.
As if we didn't have enough male competition on here.
Quick someone, shut the door before we are overrun by Walker's Crisp munchers... |

So I read the first half of the comments then decided to skip the rest … anyway, the problem isn’t about attending socials, unfortunately it’s about the amount of gents on the site! There is so much, dare I say “competition” with 47 men to 2 couples and 1 lady (worked out via the near me app) the odds r not on ur favour.
That said if u r lucky enough to attend a social, ( I say luck as many organisers want verified gents and limit their numbers) go! For the experience if nothing else. You’ll get verified and meet some fab people. As others have said, this isn’t all about sex. It’s a lifestyle choice and a social lets u chat openly to others about that. It also takes off the pressure and expectation of meeting someone on a 1:2:1 basis. It’s a a lot easier to walk away at a social than feel obliged if u arrange a meet and they aren’t all they seem in person. |
