Today, just across the road from River Liffey, I witnessed an adverse reaction from an Irish cult when an important decision did not go in their favour; it was an amazing unprecedented spectacle that took every member of the public in the room by surprise; but I had seen it coming!

If you want more specific details, PM me! The cult at the heart of this all have names taken from The Bible, and the matriarch uses the members as her puppets and proxies!

"Tell us more!!"

It's been on the main RTE news this evening from two perspectives; but I was there in the room when it kicked-off; amazing fracas and surprisingly violent reaction from the Cult: six of them in the room.

Are they an actual cult though?

Genuine question, don't know much about them, only the news reports, which are grey in detail about their MO

Is there a lot more to them than the public reports?

I know of the Headmistress who left that particular school and she's not a million miles away from me

They are a cult: led by a dominant manipulative and charismatic figure who uses the subjugated and brainwashed members as her proxies and parrots.

The members are also her children; they isolate themselves from others who theoretically share their extreme views. A very interesting case study!

Sounds like one of those well made 70s/80s cult movies that make the hair stand up, can't remember the actual movie but it was frightening

It's v v sinister if they remove themselves from others who may, on the face of it, be a source of support for them

Can this be confirmed though jubal and how can any cult be confirmed by either state security or intelligence or international security agencies .I’m not sure if you can call a family a cult unless it can be proven otherwise

To be in the room was surreal; if you want to get an idea of what it was like, have a search in Google Video for courtroom brawls (in UnitedStates) what I witnessed today was 'off the scale'. A photo of the melee, as I said to a reporter outside, would have been an amazing (but illegal) scoop!

Benches being pushed over; schoolchildren racing out; court officials in panic mode; Gardai rushing in and the dysfunctional family there at the centre of the fracas. Unforgettable experience.

They are determined people but legally, as regards the injunction, they have the wrong end of the stick

Their view of the issues (from a legal standpoint) is wholly misconceived.

Just suits a lot of people's prejudices. So good that that the Catholic church has lost its throathold on our people. And it is brilliant that Ireland voted for gay marriage and choice for women.

Everything is a cult technically....

a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object.

"the cult of St Olaf"

2.

a person or thing that is popular or fashionable among a particular group or section of society.

"the series has become

Calling them a cult is just shit stirring at its most basic ...

Even by Oxford standards their not a cult as they are part of a large religious movement world wide

a small group of people who have extreme religious beliefs and who are not part of any established religion.

He was upset at being asked to respect a student's gender identity. What reason could he have for that besides a desire to bully that student?

And don't try to palm us off with that "religious beliefs" bollocks, there's nothing about transgender people in the Bible.

The Bible has a load of bollix in it tbf ....

It was in reference to gender ... it was interference to pronouns!

You make the assumption he did this to affect a child ... when he says he did this to defend his rights ... weather he is right or not isn't what we are discussing... its weather you know why someone did something better that they themselves know !

By even been given a court date he was given full opportunity to stand up for his rights.

The problem is, he doesn't want the opportunity to express his rights. He wants to impose his beliefs on everybody else.

He allowed himself to go to court with student union level representation, and lost.

Absolute bollocks. There's not a word in the bible about trans people, the Burkes are just bigots and, if I'm being kind, lunatics.

As above, if the official report is correct they disrupted, shouted, acted in contempt and didn't behave themselves when asked to do so, to the point of being removed as judge felt there was no other option ie they went off on one, in the most spectacular fashion

Any of us would be in a cell tonight if we pulled that shit

By even been given a court date he was given full opportunity to stand up for his rights.

The problem is, he doesn't want the opportunity to express his rights. He wants to impose his beliefs on everybody else.

He allowed himself to go to court with student union level representation, and lost.

Anybody causing a fracas in a court room should absolutely be removed like rubbish. "

Most of this makes sense. Only Noone should be treated like rubbish

There was a superb article in Thursday's Irish Times, entitled "Explainer" that clarified all the legal issues in the case, what options are open to the Burke's; future hearings and an estimate of the school's costs that are running at €500,000!

The author, Ms. Carolan, opines that the case will run and run and run.....

Religion was and is a control mechanism. Its a way of controlling society and making them behave in a way society sees as acceptable.

It preaches to love thy neighbour, but also that sex is for the pocreation of children.

So its kind of strange to be preaching on a site like this? How do you feel about adultry? Religion doesnt agree with that. Or playing with your neighbours mrs..with or without his permission. Or using contraception

Personally i dont care what someone whats to be called, thats their business and i prefer to mind my own.

Forcing millions of people to live a certain way because of something one holds dear is an extremely hateful thing to do. Would you agree?

Who dose that ?

Pretty much every major religion.

Your going to make the statement that pretty much every religion hatefully forces its followers to live life in a certain way. ?

I'd give the billions on our planet more credit tbh "

Given the same billions believe in God, an afterlife, heaven and hell, 21 virgins await you in death if you blow a load of people up, you'll be reincarnated as an animal, and christ knows what else, based on absolutely no evidence at all then I certainly wouldn't give them that much credit.

But please, do exlain to me how shia law doesn't force someone to live a certain way of life? I'd love to enlightened on that one.

"Religion was and is a control mechanism.

Mrs S "

All religions are not the same ... all people are not controllable or controlled... some say wokeness is just the new religion of our time ... a way to make everyone think the same ....

Very pertinent point Mrs S - it's all about control. I read somewhere ( sorry dunno the source) Pharisees banning the eating of pig meat was because it goes 'off' quickly in hot conditions & was killing people. Make it a sin & less people die but, hey presto, 2,000 years later, despite refridgeration, it's still a sin. Same with beef, no horses in some countries so if your population eat your oxen & you've no way to till rough ground & people starve.

Anyway,as far as the Burkes are concerned, some of the Twitter stuff was hilarious. My favourite was from a woman who wondered if they'd enter for Ireland's fittest family. I can just imagine Davey Fitz cowering in a bush with 4 Burkes roaring at him instead of the other way round.

As a religious person do you believe in one god? Surely that makes you think you are right and everyone else (who believes in different gods) wrong? Or do you believe in all of the 2-3000 god that have been worshipped over the years?

They simply can't ALL be right.

I Think the only time I mentioned mass was when I was taking the p*** out of a father Ted sketch or something similar

I get the reality bit and in fact I absolutely love statistics and scientific facts. However I don't think we can measure reality and compare it to somebody's right to believe something different. Everybody owns their own mind and nobody can tell them how to use it.

I honestly don't believe that wrong and right when it comes to beliefs or thoughts is as black-and-white as we would like it to be.

I guess thats where we differ. I don't understand subscribing to a religion that you don't really believe in. Most religions are incompatible with each other so its a "one religion and 1 only" thing. It surely necessitates believing wholeheartedly in other religions being wrong. Imagine going to a Catholic priest and asking do other gods also exist! I can't imagine a positive response.

I'm all for the freedom to worship any god for anyone. I'm also all for the freedom of anyone to call it bullshit, and call out the nonsense of saying they are ALL right.

Many priests in the Catholic Church and even Catholic writings state that there is only one God but other religions choose to worship God in a different way and they are OK to do so. Other religions seem to take a more firm stance on their idea being right. The point we are discussing Is how can anybody deem them wrong and at the can't choose to deem themselves right?

These are belief systems They are not black-and-white facts therefore there is the room for them all to be right and all to be wrong and even room for them to be Both. You absolutely have a right to call them all b******* but you also have to own the responsibility that comes with that. You are responsible for belittling somebody else's beliefs because they differ from yours. I'm not sure that you actually mean it like that, However that's the statement you're making.

You really need to look into that more ,times have changed since 40 years ago. In fact take Buddhism it's always had a different point of view ,it's never condemned other belief systems as wrong.

OK so lets take Buddhism as an example. The dali lama himself said that its not possible for a Christian to also be a Buddhist. He teaches to respect other belief systems, but that they are not both true. Buddists do not pray to one god, and do not believe that a god made the universe. Also the believe in reincarnation is fundamentally incompatible with Christianity. If you are a Christian then you must believe that Buddhism is wrong, and if you are a Buddhist then you must believe that Christianity is wrong.

There are many buddhists who take on some Christian beliefs and many christians who do the same there are also many shared values between the 2. However this is not the point. The point I am making and the point that many religions make is that you don't have to be right in order not to be deemed wrong.

"Amazing how this woke bullshit is so invasive its reached our courts and has corrupted our judicial system, disagreeing with a judge will never go down well, guards who acted like thugs dragging people who stood up for their rights as Christians out of the court and discarding them like rubbish

Lolz. They need to go and pray really really hard and perhaps God will fix it for them.

Its interesting how you don't like someone not being ok with being forced to use pronouns in a different way than they want to , and yet you think its ok to take the piss out of someone's religious beliefs

Yup I think it's more than ok. I feel its absolutely necessary to point of the ridiculousness of these guys who think they have a direct line to the one true all powerful god, and yet seem to be failing at every hurdle. It's just self-righteousness and bigotry wrapped up in a nice religion sized package.

Your making little of something millions hold dear ... that a pretty hateful thing to do ...

Forcing millions of people to live a certain way because of something one holds dear is an extremely hateful thing to do. Would you agree?

Who dose that ?

Pretty much every major religion.

Your going to make the statement that pretty much every religion hatefully forces its followers to live life in a certain way. ?

I'd give the billions on our planet more credit tbh

Given the same billions believe in God, an afterlife, heaven and hell, 21 virgins await you in death if you blow a load of people up, you'll be reincarnated as an animal, and christ knows what else, based on absolutely no evidence at all then I certainly wouldn't give them that much credit.

But please, do exlain to me how shia law doesn't force someone to live a certain way of life? I'd love to enlightened on that one.

No problem

Your statement was about all religions and absolutely everybody who follows all religions. You stated that everybody who follows all religions is only because they are controlled. You're need to narrow in on one now in order to try and highlight your point speaks volumes about health ignorant the point you made was in the 1st place.

You need to be very careful you don't fall. It must be a very high pedestal that allows you to look down on billions of people and their personal decisions"

Again, I am in need more of your enlightenment.

Can you please tell where in the post below, which was my first post on this thread, where I said all religions?

"Forcing millions of people to live a certain way because of something one holds dear is an extremely hateful thing to do. Would you agree?"

Also, still waiting on whether you agree with the statement or not aswell.

Don't worry, I'm good with heights so I'll be fine.

Bullshit. Something is real. Either god created the universe or he didn't. Reality exists. Can't have it both ways. The dali lama and the pope do not share compatible beliefs. Either one is right, or they are both wrong.

That dosnt equate to all religions thinking othere are wrong because they have their own faith ....

Anyway, on Tuesday morning young Simeon will be taken from his cellin Cloverhill or Wheatfield Prison to the nearby courthouse for what should prove to be another interesting court hearing!

He claims not to be a criminal, but the blatant violence, and the abusive and threatening conduct he meted out to the Gardai in the Court of Appeal (that I personally witnessed) was criminal, in my opinion.

I think he needs to be psychiatrically assessed out at the new CMH in Portrane to determine whether he was acting as he did in a state of diminished responsibility, thus rendering himself incapable of being convicted, by reason of insanity. Watch this space

So standing firm in their christian beliefs is making a show of themselves at every opportunity? Roaring abuse at people who disagree with them or if they don't like what they say to them? Disturbing hearings that have nothing to do with them? Linking homosexuality with i*cest and worse? Sounds awful Christian to me

This is the devil's work, twisting our society and turning everything on its head, gender itself has nothing to do with Christian beliefs but a man identifying as a woman or a female child wanting to be referred to as they and countless other examples completely contradict Christian and every other organised religions ideology, the Irish Muslim Council has opposed plans to teach school children about trans issues and they should be applauded because this nonsense is the work of evil and our children should be protected from such

The biblical understanding of male and female is more than just an assumption writ large on the pages of Scripture. We know from Genesis 1 and 2 that the categories of male and female are a part of God’s design for humanity. Indeed, when God created the first human pair in his image, he created them male and female (Gen. 1:27). He made the woman to be a complement and help to the man (Gen. 2:18-22). Far from being a mere cultural construct, God depicts the existence of a man and a woman as essential to his creational plan. The two are neither identical nor interchangeable. But when the woman, who was taken out of man, joins again with the man in sexual union, the two become one flesh (Gen. 1:23-24). Dividing the human race into two genders, male and female—one or the other, not both, and not one then the other—is not the invention of Victorian prudes or patriarchal oafs. It was God’s idea.

If the binary of male and female is God’s idea, and if we are meant to embrace, by divine design, our biological and creational difference as men and women, then it stands to reason that the confusion of these realities would be displeasing to God. And so we see clearly in the Bible that men should not act sexually as women (Lev. 18:22; Rom. 1:18-32; 1 Cor. 6:9-10), that men should not dress like women (Deut. 22:5), and that when men and women embrace obviously other-gendered expressions of identity it is a disgrace (1 Cor. 11:14-15). We do not have an inalienable right to do whatever we want with our physical selves. We belong to God and should glorify him with our bodies (1 Cor. 6:19-20).

" If the binary of male and female is God’s idea, and if we are meant to embrace, by divine design, our biological and creational difference as men and women, then it stands to reason that the confusion of these realities would be displeasing to God. 6:19-20)."

Do you also think homosexuality is wrong? Cause I can Google plenty of interpretation of the bible that people have used to claim its wrong

"The burkes are the Irish version of the westboro baptist church. They crave the attention and this whole sage is played for just that. Attention.

They are standing firm on their Christian beliefs first and foremost, the fact that it is drawing attention is a side issue, the burkes should be admired for their persistence with this, how people can't understand that is beyond me

I still haven't been able to get anyone to explain what gender has to do with christianity. I'm assuming you won't either.

I read earlier of some school where a number of students are identifying as cats yes cats, when will this craziness and satanism end

How do you know it's "the devils work" ?

There is nothing in the bible.

It seems a stretch to just straight to the devil is all. Are men and women not capable of doing this stuff all by themselves?"

This

We externalize too much onto a god(s) or deamons .... own our shit as a society who creates personalities

The devil isn't real he's like the Green Goblin.

"gender itself has nothing to do with Christian beliefs"

Yeah sound so we agree ah wait what's this

"but a man identifying as a woman or a female child wanting to be referred to as they and countless other examples completely contradict Christian and every other organised religions ideology, "

So? Fuck 'em.

And to sum up, your answer to the question "what does gender have to do with christianity?" is "nothing at all, but definitely everything".

I didn't know I was dealing with a theologian.

Satan isn't real and that story is ridiculous ragebait that's been debunked thoroughly. If you believe it all I can say is I hope you don't have to operate heavy machinery on any kind of regular basis.
