In an interview recently he officially ruled himself out. It's been 4 years since the last series ended and the movie sequel is out at the moment so it doesn't look likely |

Won't be Idris. I think he would be great but sadly he's a bit older than what they want.
The current favorite is Regé-Jean Page or else Henry Cavill.
Tom Hardy is always mentioned as well.
I'd say Cavill is a great call. Has the coolness and physicality. The fact he's gone from DC and the Witcher recently makes it seem more likely too! |

Please not Tom Hardy, I don't want to watch James Bond with subtitles. |

The two Bonds I didn't really like were Dalton and Lazenby (excuse the spelling) . Think they didn't have the charisma of the rest . I had my doubts about Daniel Craig but must admit he made it his own |

There have been a lot of rumours that Aaron Taylor-Johnson had auditioned and impressed the producers. But long-time Barbara Broccoli was interviewed at the BAFTAS and said they haven’t begun auditions and that they don’t have a script yet.
Michael Wilson, her Co-producer (and half brother) said that the next 007 will be in his 30s. So unless they change their minds, no Idris, no Fassbender, no Rufus Sewell or Hugh Jackman. |

How can a British secret service agent be a German national with his parents being of Scottish and Swiss nationality? |

Barbara Broccoli reckons bond can be any race, the only things they wont change are he'll always be British and always be a man. Anything else is fair game. |

He also isn't big into consensual sex or mixed race people.
But I guess some character traits are more important to keep than others |

There's a fictional autobiography about him... James Bond: The Authorized Biography of 007
Novel by John Pearson... For any bond geeks.... He was born in a military base in Germany as his father was a military officer... He retired in Jamaica and is fictionally interviewed about his "life" |

There's no citizenship by birth in Germany, so he's not German. |

I read it years ago and it's fun, but ultimately it doesn't have any bearing on cinematic Bond. If they stuck to the book, Bond would be a centenarian by now.
Besides, it's not like the books haven't been revised. Fleming initially disliked the casting of Sean Connery, but changed his mind on seeing Doctor No - he added the detail of Bond having a Scottish father as a tribute to the actor. |

"I think Bogman should be the next Bond.
Bogman 007.
Curious who the contenders for evil villain would be tho
Bogman's evil twin. Turfman
Eamon Ryan ??"
I'd be ugly henchman number 7 on the credits who you know is going to die before the opening credits |

"Connery was close to playing the caretaker in sky fall but health issues scuppered it... Would of been amazing"
I think not only that but in the original script Skyfall wasn't Bond's family home but a home for retired spies. The internet would have blown up! I read also that when SC wasn't available, they considered casting Lazenby or Dalton.
TBH, part of me would love to have seen this, but I also think it would've been a bit too meta - I was never a fan of the 'James Bond is a codename' theory. |

Genuinely think that no one mentioned so far will be the new Bond
It'll be another 3 years at least before the next film and for publicity purposes they'll have to run a global PR exercise to start the whole Bond world again |

"It'll be Aaron Taylor-Johnson. He's perfect for the role on screen and off-screen given the huge media duties. "
I actually had never heard of him and had to resort to Google |

Check him out in Bullet Train and you'll see why he's being connected to the role. |

I've almost watched it several times and always put it off...I'll definitely give it a whirl now |

It's really good anyway, if you like John Wick type action, plus Brad Pitt is great in it. |

"What about Taron Egerton? Saw him on TV recently and just thought he's a handsome, dapper looking sorta cunt, would fit the bill pretty well"
It might be a bit on the nose, seeing as he played a sort of variation/pastiche of Bond in the Kingsman series. Eon guard 007 very jealously. |

"Since they are now rewriting the previous books to be more PC who knows what will happen with the character in the movies. "
Well they've already toned down the traditional women beating rapist persona that the original James Bond character had. |

In the time between Sean C and Daniel C there really wasn't a 'great' Bond and looking at DC's past I never expected him to be so good. That was down to the director and DC.
Hopefully the next Bond and director will continue the theme of a proper hard ass spy.
My fear is political correctness is gonna take over and what is essentially very masculine role will be diluted to keep the woke happy |

People have been complaining about Bond going woke (except back then they said 'PC') for as long as I can remember. Firstly it was due to the fact that Timothy Dalton had been in a relationship with Vanessa Redgrave. Then it was because his Bond only had one or two love interests in a film. Then it was a female M, then it was because Halle Berry or Michelle Yeoh held their own with Bond in fight scenes.
Eon have done a great job of evolving and modernising the character, without turning him into someone unrecognisable. There's no reason to think they'll do anything different with the next version. |
