Just got a brilliant job offer, which would involve moving to Cork (area).
Initially wasn't considering it, but figured since i always fancied Ireland (although still never been) maybe look into it some more and would love to hear from people who know the area.
Cork looks and sounds brilliant, is it in your opinion?
What's it like with fab related adventures? Already spotted one place to avoid on another thread. Looks like there's no swingers club there? x |

Cork is a stunning place with a great city. My second favourite county 
Swinging wise, there are currently no clubs down there but then the only club is in Dublin. I would say that, after Dublin, it has the biggest population of active members.
Definitely worth considering a move, you’ll just need to get used to the accent  |

Best of luck what ever you chose but mind you there is a housing crises going on here and it is extremely hard to find anywhere fo rent in all areas of Irelans at the moment ans you're looking 1000+ a month for a single bed apartment. |

To be honest Id look more at the cost of living in Ireland as a whole rather than just Cork
Renting is incredibly expensive as is the cost of living and certain things organised by the government just dont work
I'd make sure the salary covers everything so that you're as well off at least as living in Scotland |

As a couple we have both lived in many places and experienced many different cityscapes, some good some not so good, we have settled in cork just becuse of the pure comfort and calm nature of the city, it's not a big city but big enough to cater to all your needs, lots to do lots to see, fun people and great adventures. As for swinging there is a very lovely and active community down here and various play and social nights to be enjoyed. |

I just moved to Cork in July 22. Its a wonderful County & a great City. Its like anything else its what you make it. You will be welcomed with open arms. As for the cost of rent and inflation that's happening everywhere not just in Ireland. As for the lifestyle well I can't complain. |

Cork City is very liveable with everything you need (restaurants, independent cafes, pubs, markets, shops, etc.), all within easy walking distance if you base yourself anywhere within the city - which isn’t unachievable cost wise (comparative to other Cities).
The City has an abundance of character: natural (river, harbour, parks); heritage buildings (forts, castles, cathedrals, quays, university, etc.); and the people (who are a small bit proud of the City)… much more in terms of beaches, mountains, historic towns, etc. in easy reach of the city to East, West, North and South.
We only started to discovering Cork properly and truly appreciating it after moving back and through Covid. Still haven’t been to Spike Island, Barleycove or Blackrock Observatory ourselves.
If it’s all too much, the Airport has good connectivity to UK and Europe. |

Cork is amazing. The city and quite a lot of the towns have great cafes,bars and restaurants.
There is a swinging scene there I'm sure you just need to get know people like anywhere else.
The scenery is amazing down there and there are some amazing beaches there.
It is expensive but then lots places are nowadays.But remember there is no NHS and you pay to see your doctor etc.Day to day living is more expensive as well.If you are on a good wage though it should be fine. |

It's a brilliant city & county lots to see and do and you'll get a friendly welcome so it's hard not to love cork
Only thing I'd say is see will Ur employer be sorting out your accommodation cause you can't really rent out accommodation without physically viewing as in Galway anyway there's a rise in scams "renting" places out to people online and no accommodation when they turn up,
best of luck if ya do move and sure you might even get a bit more sun in cork than Scotland |

Can't say much about Cork City but overall my experience is Cork is friendly . Outside the city you have places like Kinsale. West Cork is beautiful. And Kerry is about an hours drive so all in all its a pretty nice place. I expect to retire to Kinsale in due course. |

Cork is arty, relaxed and unpretentious. Go for the weekend, check out the nightlife and culture. Even if you choose not to move you'll enjoy the trip  |

It's our favourite destination in Ireland, much nicer city to visit than Dublin, great food, lively atmosphere, amazing scenery in the countryside, charming people and a lot of attractive fabbers too! |

At the moment there’s construction everywhere as we are getting broadband woo hoo
Very little horses around the estates lately,the joyriding only goes on till 3 in the morning I know very disappointed with that me self like
Heard all the other posters saying rents are high fuck that girl bring a tent you’ll fit right in
Oh and last thing finish all your sentences with like,boy or girl and you’ll be grand
Hopefully we’ll see ya in a long for a pint some night (in a long means town)

Cork is amazing. I moved here for a summer job when I was 18 and never left. That was 20 years ago next month. As a city it has everything and then some but has more of a big town feel to it than a City. Lots to see and do and West Cork has some of the best beaches and scenery in the world.

Check to see if Ryanair do flights from Scotland to Cork City. Look up local paper Irish Examiner. It is a nice city. Check it out for a weekend yourself. Best of luck. |

Like a previous poster i strongly advise coming over for a weekend in advance of any move.
Im a blow in myself but settled 20 yrs here....have lived all over ireland and this is where i want to be.
Cork doesnt need anybody to sell it.
It does all that by itself. |

Having made the Move from Scotland to Ireland (via some other places ) two things are clear to me .
Ireland is incredible . Cork and particularly west cork are jewels in the crown
But you won’t believe how expensive it is . Do your research when it comes to property and the cost of living |

Hi I am French single here who live in cork since 6years now . For me cork is the best city to live because as everyone said this city it’s very friendly, comfortable, easy going people, 13 différents nationality. The weather it’s pretty good ( not too cold or rainy) . The only bad thing is to find a rent but after you will enjoy ! |

Cork has its own border with the rest of the country being a Republic.....check for visa requirements
They have books available on translating their own unique dialecl gurrrrl.its worth the investment....having a musical ear helps as it sounds like they're singing in chinese most of the time...
Langer a word worth knowing as it's used in a lot of situations ...the tone in which it's used and its delivery is key...
