All manner of bodily functions are discussed here. I'm curious that female related topics don't come up often.
What are we afraid of? Is topics like menstruation, gynae, hormones and menopause not considered important or somehow taboo. These factors impact on at least 50% of fabs membership and de facto on our sexual health, libido, wellbeing and enjoyment.
Let 2023 be about empowering and education, we can all learn.

I don't think they're taboo.
I do think it has it's place.
I don't think this is the place.
Not going to talk about my last bm any more than how often I pee or if I have a gyn issue.
It's private. PM/DM a friend or topic friendly groupchat. |

I don't think 90% of guys here really want to discuss their bodily functions on this forum either.
With the extra numbers of men on here it's bound to come up more.

I can't see why any of these topics should be taboo. If a girl wants to talk in these areas then go ahead. I've lived with women all my life, been present through 5 pregnancies and births, and there is nothing left that's gonna freak me out as far as I'm aware. |

I find that serious topics don't get much traction on here. It's usually the more frivolous topics like the good morning threads and the Kiss/Pass threads which get the interaction ... unfortunately.

The statements like "boys won't like us" I don't wish to discuss my gynae issues " are indicative of how society hasn't progressed on these matters in any meaningful way.
The mismatch of sexual desires, ED, arousal etc are all connected to this site either overtly or indirectly.
I merely stating my own observation on it and seeking others thoughts. |

I happily discuss them. At home with my children or family, with friends, or whoever.
I don't think it's wrong to see it as personal and/or private. Private does not equal taboo or shameful.
My expectation on fab is a sexual slant on socialising. This seems a bit too ThisMorning for me. I would skip a thread on it.
And before anyone says 'well why comment here then?', I only commented here as it seemed the discussion was a question on the topic being taboo not to explore the topic.

Should all be out in the open and discussed regularly. And should be from an early age. Women go trough a lot of bodily functions just to be a woman. Yet society throws out this image that can have a negative effect on hundreds of thousands of young girls and women. Time to openly discuss periods,leakage,menopause and hormonal imbalance etc etc.
Understandin education and knowledge can make a better society for everyone |

Ha, I didn't realize I was involved in period sex in a car, on a dark night, until I got home and saw my reflection in a mirror,  thankfully nobody was still up when I got home |

There was a messy fusion of flavours, I wasn't a conosuir at the time and didn't notice the metallic undertones, twas early in my career |

I think menstruation is still relatively taboo, surely only 2 years ago that tampon ad was banned for being "too descriptive". I even remember having a discussion with a friend about Pixar's Turning Red being a metaphor for periods and so what if it was. |

Great to see some want to keep us in the dark ages! Whatever you do, don't watch Catherine Called Birdy on Amazon Prime then 
I always admired Billy Connolly. He absolutely cracked me up but he also opened people's minds to actually talking about stuff that was traditionally hidden, without being perverse about it. He openly talked about sex, masturbation, periods, prostate exams and more. Check your culture charts and you'll see that stuff like that wasn't openly discussed before Billy started having a laugh about it.
Yes, the Fab Forums are an open place, despite some views above.
Why shouldn't they be a place for discussion of female health issues? Obviously the sexual ones will be of interest to more but Hey! It's Fab and you should be able to have a discussion/debate about anything non-derogatory, or non-discriminatory so work away.
Well done OP for raising the topic and I do hope more female health issues are discussed.
As a dad to a girl and one who scored highly in biology, I'll likely get involved in some of the threads |

I really don't see why supposed adults are so afraid of these topics. The level of ignorance and misinformation out there is still incredible, even in the age of Google. Plus it can be helpful for people going through stuff to hear of the real experiences of others on the subject. Anyone who doesn't want to join in or discuss their own problems is free to steer clear, but they might learn something. |

We had a discussion last night about my lack of lubrication, I use and insert a hormone cream into my vagina twice a week but, I still remain dry at times. Its really put me off having sex as it's sore and I can bleed as my vaginal lining I believe has thinned due to hormonal changes. Silicone based lubes cause irritation. It's an ongoing issue and I hate it. I've got some water based lube to try. My libido has also taken a nose dive. Just thought I would be open about my issue. |

I'm not sure where all the negativity is coming from.
I think 1 person out of all the posters said the forum wasn't appropriate.
I've seen very little ewwww not the place for menstruation when the topics do come up. |

I've seen lots of threads started by both men and women about most of these topics and it's often women who say the conversation is inappropriate while some have been accused of treating the subject simply as a fetish.
I don't have an issue discussing anything like this but like most subjects I've always found it more interesting when it's specific to someone I know and am chatting to because any questions I have will be more about personal experience rather than generalised. |

Fair play, it's not always easy to talk about, especially on a site where women are assumed to be gagging for it 24/7. We've found Durex sensilube to be excellent, with a very natural feel |

I'm all for discussing these topics and it's good to see that even the menopause has made it into the public in recent years.
However I prefer when a thread is more specific on one of the topics around the female reproductive system, rather than all of them and you just throw your random piece of bacon onto it.

Great to see lots of contributions Agreed it's a hughly open area of discussion. But it's go alongside with the premise of this site. It's about sex.. Sex is biological and physiological and needs to co exist with the human drivers of desire etc.

It's a crazy world when
Young girls aren't educated on hormonal changes. It can really affect mental health and self confidence
Older women aren't educated of the difficulties of the menopause and the stress it can cause
That's just 2 things.
Men and their health should also be more openly discussed.
Everywhere and anywhere is the best place to discuss these issues.
It's life and its normal and it can make people realise they're not alone.

I agree but speaking personally I've never contributed to a thread discussing sexual thoughts or desires. I keep those conversations for private discussion.
When I posted on a thread yesterday about sexual positions it was because many people assume that men don't rate the missionary position but that was probably the first time I've ever contributed to a thread like that.
Too often on here there is a lot of public bravado with people claiming knowledge or understanding of various subjects or a willingness to learn when in reality they have none.
The forums should be a safe space to discuss almost any subject and fair play to anyone open to raising certain topics but they should be prepared for the content being used as ammo for others. |

I think the op is way of the mark ... over the years I've seen almost every topic I can think of on fab and rarely seen an objection to discussing it ... bar inappropriate rip treads sometimes .
