Anyone donning the lipstick and leaving their hair unbrushed to go see The Cure in Belfast next Friday?

Paul Weller is a miserable bastard.

All the success in the world, fantastic songwriter, does nothing but complain.

Van Morrison is also playing Belfast next weekend. Weller probably gave you his tickets to go see him.

Strangely enough I'm not a fan of any of them but VM is a very dangerous man

Im a fan of all three but have to park a lot to enjoy Weller and especially Morrison. Morrison is a wonderful artist but a detestable, and as you say, dangerous man.

Many years ago I was given a free ticket to see Van Morrison at the Whitla Hall at Queen's, Belfast - a home gig for him, if you like. I've been to many, many gigs (I was involved in the music biz for a number of years) but I've never, ever seen such a surly, crowd-hostile performer. He was totally ignorant, ignoring the crowd and continually complaining about something or other. At the end of the evening I felt like asking for my money back!

I saw him at a double header with Robert Plant a few years ago. He was very good indeed but a few times he gave icy looks at band members who made mistakes. Only gig I've ever been to where the act didn't introduce the band too.

He was good however but not a patch on Plant. Different level of musicianship and warmth as a person.

Why so? What have they done?

Both just notoriously miserable and unpleasant.

As for Morrison, he was pushing gigging at the height of Covid and telling people not to wear masks etc.

Hardly makes him an asshole. Loads of people didnt see the point in masks or shutting everything down.

Fair enough re their miserable personalities, if that is the case

Oh boy. I was thinking that was what you were baiting at. I know enough people who died over the last two years to not engage.

Further to Van Morrison being surly, etc. Near the start of their career the Undertones played support to him at a festival in Glasgow. Fergal Sharkey had always been a fan of his so he approached Van Morrison to talk to him and Van basically told him to eff off. There was an interview with Fergal in the NME or Hotpress soon after the incident and he was still upset.

I know someone who played in his band once and on his last night before leaving he snook into Vans dressing room and wiped his harmonica on his arse.
