I was blown away. I thought it was the best Irish film I'd seen in a long long time.
Loved the minor characters more than the lead 2. The character Dominic was so well played. |

It's an astonishing film, and Barry is so much better than the two leads. |

He was incredible in it.
And I thought he was crap usually.
Looks like an accurate depiction of 1920s west of Ireland |

"Has anyone watched Bad Sisters it's absolutely brilliant an Irish series great cast and is hilarious at times. I highly recommend it"
Yes, very enjoyable, but based on an original Dutch or Belgium series. Haven’t seen Banshees, but the Aran Sweaters are selling like hotcakes since the film became a hit. |

Don't think I saw a single white Aran sweater in it actually.
I do love Kerry Condon in it, she was great, as usual. Yes, I would |

"I liked it but An Cailín Ciúin is the Irish film of the year imo."
Haven't seen the Banshee, but I agree with your choice, a beautiful, poignant film, understated and gorgeously shot. |

I loved Banshee (I expected it to be overhyped shite) - Barry Keoghan stole the show for sure.
Bad Sisters was great. I haven’t stood up to punch the TV more than in response to The Pricks antics. What a horrible character! |

Yea really enjoyed. Set in Ireland but not ‘Irish’ though - made for US. Same goes for Banshees really. |

Watched both.
Yes Banshee is over hyped but nevertheless a very enjoyable watch, some flaws in it, ie hard to get a feel for Gleeson's character, beautiful scenery.
Cailín is outstanding and it shows you that you don't need the big names to make a good film. |

"I watched An Cailín Ciúin - The Quite Girl today. This is exceptional IMO. Nominated for an Oscar for an all Irish film. Maithu
Is this streaming yet as I know its still on in the cinema "
You may have to search for "The Quiet Girl". It's listed in the English translation on Rotten Tomatoes anyway. |

Overrated IMO. You can tell it was designed as a play. Don't think the acting is great, as they are clearly 'acting' in their delivery, especially any line with Feck in it. Good acting comes off as more natural. |

Am I in the minority?? I love the movie... Brilliant acting from all actors in a movie which focused in the interpersonal relationships and simple lives of early 20th century Ireland. No fast cars, no guns, no special effects.... epic scenery and realistic portrayal of how life in those days could have been very depressing, where minor difficulties could become major issues with tragic consequences... |

Exactly that, well acted, lovely scenery, well shot... But the story/plot just left me scratching my head at the end thinking "was that it??" It reminded me of a storyline dreamt up in a pub after a few drinks.
