Why is it so hard to get work done lately? Mu heating has broke, the pil burning is not firing, 15 minute job, hour max and I can't get anyone out! It's too small of a job for most plumbers I've been told. |

An oil burner, can you bleed it? Or know someone you can sometimes that's all it may take. Get someone to do it and show you what they doing so you can do it the next time |

Costs for all businesses are through the roof so many just won't consider a very small job as they'll probably feel they'll never be able to charge you enough. They'll also be worried that if they do charge you enough then you'll never use them again. Also, they can make multiples of what they'll make from you on bigger jobs which are probably plentiful these days. That may explain it to a certain extent. |

I've tried that unfortunately, I'm fairly handy at stuff but this is above me! Looks like the starter is gone in which stopping it firing up! |

I asked this question on a FB business page where a lot of trades advertise and said I had about £2k worth of repairs I needed done and had been quoted back in February for the 3 different jobs but none of them had turned up since. I was told to stop being a whinging fucker and a lazy cunt and get out and do it myself.
One guy quoted me £600 back in Feb for one job and came back last month to say he was ready to do the job but it would be £1600. Materials in Feb were £200 and are now £250 so if he increased his prices by that 25% that only comes to £750 so I told him to fuck off and had it done today for £730.
If he wasn't interested in "small" jobs why did he come back offering to do it.
I get the supply and demand issue but it's a short-term approach that will backfire. |

the supply and demand issue but it's a short-term approach that will backfire. This a 100 % I worked for a guy few years ago and he told me never mind the big customers they come and go as suits them the small customers are the ones to look after they are loyal and will keep you afloat |

I've seen it too many times with rival companies switching their focus to supplying lidl and Tesco while we continued with our bread and butter customers.
Their turnover increased massively for a year until the squeeze was put on margins by those big customers that they couldn't sustain and are no longer in business. |

There is water in my oil burner so ita going to be a big job! I'm fairly handy with some stuff but pil and eletric works is beyond me! If prefer to pay someone in to do it!
I've a plumber coming back later to look at it now. One of my neighbours is a builder so he had a quick look for me and said uta beyond what he can do but has someone coming. I normally don't mind waiting but I've a sick child ATM so it needs to be sorted for him.
Builders and all have just gone crazy! There will be so many this year with no heating cause they will not be able for afford getting ut fixed. I'm lucky I can get it done. |
