I do a fair amount of asana but the real value from yoga (at least at my low level) would be in in pranayama if I did more of it.
Kundalini is where sanity leaves the room. Amazing stuff.
It's life-changing stuff if it suits you. |

Yes I've been practicing about 5 years. Started because I heard it helped with injuries but it has become so much more. It's as good for the head as the body. Would recommend that you go to a studio over a class in a gym, the studio would have teachers that have completed 200/300/500 hr yoga training, not sure the same could be said for gyms. Enjoy. "Yeah I’ve been practicing for about 6 years now
Helped with chronic shoulder pain and chills me out considerably " With my hours of work I couldn’t sign up to anything to involved , So relaxing local gym when suits is better, I may be to tired sometimes, But great feedback everyone |

Last job I was in brought in a yoga instructor twice a week for the office staff and opened it up then to warehouse staff as well.
Initially for 6 weeks at 7am on a Friday morning and even though some mocked it I encouraged them to go as the company were paying for it.
They all really enjoyed it and only stopped going when the company stopped subsidising it.

I tried yoga recently after doing Jiu Jitsu for 7 years. Couldnt train due to injury and the yoga has been really nice. Might even keep at it when Im healed. Its like the same flexibility and stuff but youre not trying to compete with someone lol |

It's fierce important to stretch and keep supple, a person's own body weight is more than enough to work with , your body and limbs work for you all day and every day , it's no harm at all to give your body and limbs a few hours a week |

I took up yoga six years ago. Even though I was quite fit - long distance cycling, hillwalking, swimming etc I knew my flexibility was decreasing.
On top of all that I was a workaholic.
To be honest it had been a life saver for me. I go to class every day when at home and if away I still will do a practice of my own.
It just becomes part of your life.
The improvement in my flexibility has been amazing and I honestly think I am now more flexible than when in my 20's.
The other benefit, which I was not expecting, is the calmness it brings - a slow but steady progression.
I have since trained as a teacher - not so as to teach - but to improve my knowledge of yoga.
Just start. I would advise an absolute beginners class and work your way up. It is not a race, there is no end line.
Breath and enjoy.
It is addictive
Plus it is very beneficial for your hormones |

I did both yoga and pilates before lockdown and found it so good for your body and mind. I recently had back surgery so looking to start it again to strengthen my core. Might have to ease myself into it though |

Loved my yoga classes pre Covid times. It was great for the mind and toning the body. When classes went online I found my interest swayed but thankfully all in class sessions starting back |

Can only speak from a male point of view but as somebody who thought they were fit, yoga took me to a whole other level. No more niggling back pains or stiff limbs and fantastic for your posture. I found it funny how after a few months of yoga people were asking me had i grown taller and telling me i looked so healthy.
No ive always been this height but now i stand properly and im alot more confident in myself. The benefits when it comes to bedroom acrobatics are a plus too. |
